thinking outside the tin challenge
It's challenge time once again for the senior design team at Papertrey Ink! Our challenge this month was to create a project using the famous nugget tins that Papertrey Ink sells. Right away I thought of the magnet play sets that we have for my daughters and how much fun they have with them. I also thought of magnetic poetry - something I have loved since it first came out how many years ago.
I used the tree from the Father Knows Best set to complete my idea and create trees from each season and some fun words to create poetry to go along with them.
I created the tree tops with the same technique that I used on this card and used the Simple Alphabet set to create my poetry words. I ran everything through my Xyron machine with a laminate/magnet cartridge and then used some sharp paper snips to trim everything out.
Here's a look at my 'pieces' inside the box. I lined the inside edge of the tin with Spring Moss Grosgrain ribbon...
Playing around with my words I came up with this fun little autumn tree poem...
Simple fun things like this make my day.
Make sure you stop by the other senior design team members blogs to see their take on this challenge: Nichole, Amy, Debbie, Lisa, and Taylor!
Here are the color combinations I used for each tree top: spring - lemon tart cardstock (Papertrey Ink) with certainly celery craft in (Stampin' Up!), summer - spring moss cardstock (Papertrey Ink) with always artichoke craft ink (Stampin' Up!), autumn - summer sunrise cardstock (Papertrey Ink) with really rust craft ink (Stampin' Up!), winter - kraft cardstock with whisper white craft ink (Stampin' Up!)
I have to share that I was chatting on the phone with Lisa the other day and we started talking about the challenge. She shared her idea with me and I said, "oh no! I am going to have to change my project because it's so close to yours!" But in the end I left it the way I started it. I think it is fun to see that even though we had the same sort of idea for doing something with magents, our projects are completely unique and will inspire people in different ways.
Thanks for stopping by (now you better go get some of the tins before they get away!)
