Happy September! The summer is winding down for our family and my girls start school next week. We have just a bit of shoe shopping to do this weekend and then they will be ready to go!
The start of September also marks the time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. Last month we revisited the set Spiral Bouquet and this month we are revisiting Lisa's Flower Garden set. For my project I was inspired to do something with a botanical feel...
First I stamped the text onto the white cardstock with Chai tea dye ink. I love that the tea dye inks are nice and subtle to use in this way. You can stamp your image right over the top and that lends to the botanical flair. I also inked the edges of the white cardstock with the tea dye duo. The Mat Stack 4 die has the perfect shape for this theme as well and I also used left over pieces from my letterpress project that I shared in the previous post.
When I stamped the floral images, I spritzed the inked up image with water before I stamped it onto the cardstock. It gave a little bit more of a flow to the ink, softened the images, especially on this particular card, and it gave a watercolored look.
I used the same layout on both the portrait and landscape versions of the card. This particular layout translates nicely on either.
I also made coordinating envelopes and seals for my cards. For the envelopes I stamped the text background again with the Chai tea dye ink on a lighter weight white cardstock that I had and then die cut the Envelope Liner die to perfectly line the kraft envelopes. The seals are die cut with the Jar Label die from a white adhesive sheet that I had again stamped with the text background in Chai tea dye ink and then added the "hello" sentiment in True Black.
I added a bit of shine with a shimmer spray on the labels and also the floral image pieces.
I thought I would share the cards I made when this set first was released:
A simply stamped thank you card. I love the punched detail with the sentiment - I am going to have to use this idea on a card again!
These 2 cards were stamped with Twinkling H2O paints. You can learn more about doing this technique here. So pretty and so shimmery in person! You can visit the Flower Garden section of the gallery to see even more samples and inspiration here.
Have a great start to your month and I will see you back here soon for September release sneak peeks!
