Happy November! Our house is winding down from all of the Halloween excitement in the last few weeks...
The Tiana & Belle costumes have been worn to many celebrations and trick-or-treating events!
Today is also the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and this month we all pulled out the Calendar Basics set and coordinating products. It's the perfect time of year to think about gift giving and a calendar for next year is something that pretty much anyone would enjoy!
For this calendar, I wanted to play with numbers of months, but not just die cutting a number for each page.
For this calendar I used the Calendar Page die for each page and then the 2012 Mini Calendar Pages with the months stamped in True Black from the Calendar Basics set.
I packaged the calendar up in one of the CD calendar cases (mine did end up a little thick and so adding the pages that didn't fit into an envelope to include with the case is my solution) and tied on a tag with the year die cut with the By the Numbers dies from various patterned papers that I also used for pages in the calendar.
I die cut each calendar page from vellum cardstock and then die cut the coordinating month number from each page. Vellum is tricky as far as adhering without seeing the adhesive. I did put a bit of regular tape runner type adhesive under where the calendar page sits and then stiched around each page with my sewing machine. You could also use a Xyron machine or spray adhesive to adhere everything together as well.
When I chose the patterned papers for the calendar, I stayed away from anything too busy. Simple designs like the papers from Damask Designs, Dotty Biscotti, Bitty Box Basics, and Pretty Pastels are ones that work great. It keeps the focus on the number and the calendar page piece.
For the numbers that had pieces for the inside portions of the numbers, I ran those pieces through my little Xyron machine to apply adhesive. Then, I used the number that I had die cut from the vellum page as a guide to adhere the piece into the number on the calendar page.
Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Maile, and Lisa all have projects to share today using the Calendar Basics set and coordinating supplies. You will have lots of inspiration to get some calendar gifts ready for the holidays after visitng all of their blogs!

where I cut all of my calendar pages from photos of the girls from the past year. You can see the whole post here on how to make your own. Chad has this calendar up at work and I am sure I will do another one for him from pictures from this year.
And this example of using a photo frame to clip each calendar page to and a coordinating card made with the Calendar Basics set.
