I am a part of the Simple to Spectacular series over at Papertrey Ink today using the Vintage Linens stamp set.
How fun to use the Vintage Linens set for the Simple to Spectacular challenge this week. Vintage Linens has so many layering options for the images in the set and I played with the different options with each project progression along with adding other details like color blending and using die cuts. Each card is a stand out in its own way!
Here is my simple version of my card design. I used the solid flowers in the Vintage Linens stamp set to stamp a floral background with Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores, Bright Buttercup, and Prairie Grass inks. The solid flowers can absolutely stand alone and create a beautiful background for this card.
The "with love" sentiment from the Botanical Bounty Sentiments stamp set is stamped right onto the background design with black ink and then I die cut the background with the Scallop Stackers: Medium die. I added the stamped piece to a Kraft card base and it is ready to deliver to a friend or loved one.
For this stepped up version of the card design, I stamped the solid flowers like I did on the first card, but this time did a little color blending to add a darker tone to the bottom of the flowers. I added Scarlet Jewel to the Pure Poppy, Tropical Teal to the Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise to the Bright Buttercup, and Ripe Avocado to the Prairie Grass. The flowers just have a beautiful richness and depth to them. I also added the flower centers in the darker ink colors.
I added the "with love" sentiment again, but this time stamped it onto the coordinating die cut. That helps it pop a bit on the card now that there is more detail in the background design. I also added a few rainstones around the sentiment to finish off the card.
For this stepped up to spectacular version of the card design, I did the same as the second card, but then added the outline flower image over the top of each stamped flower instead of just the centers. I also stamped and die cut the red flowers to pop them up a bit for even more dimension. I temporarily attached them to the background before die cutting with the Scallop Stackers: Medium die so that the die cuts would match the scallops on the edge of the design. After I die cut the background, I took the flowers off and popped them up a bit with some foam squares.
