papertrey projects
September 16, 2007
Christmas and winter themed stamping and scrapbooking supplies have always been my favorite of mine. Every year I tell myself - no more holiday sets! You have plenty! And then what happens? I fall in love and give in. The Christmas holiday is so inspiring for me, I get so many ideas for projects! With the weather getting cooler, it's the perfect time of year to stay in and create.
I love all 4 sets that Papertrey Ink released this month and Nichole is right when she said that they will change the way you stamp. The sets completely work together - and what could be better than that?
When I saw the Believe stamp set, I thought of doing the cracked glass technique right away (you can find a great tutorial for cracked glass here.) I colored my images for the tree and santa card with my new Copic markers on an ivory paper. The white pigment ink to color the santa beard and outfit is applied with a sponge dauber. I also cut the santa out and mounted him on kraft paper. Both images have glitter (iridescent) applied to them before I embossed the clear UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) over the top and then applied to the edges afterwords - silver on the santa and iridescent on the tree. I rubbed the tree image onto a brown stamp pad to highlight the cracks. The sentiment on the santa card is from the Holiday Wishes set.
Making Memories page pebbles work perfectly with the ornaments from the Take a Bough set - I love how it gives the ornament a finished look. I will definitely be stocking up on more of these. After stamping the polka dot ornament I colored in the dots with a white gel pen - perfect... I know these little ornaments will be showing up on many little gifts this holiday season.
The Holiday Treats set will definitely be showing up a lot as well - making tags and labels for homemade treats is going to be so quick and easy! Plus the fact that the coffee bags are so perfect for filling - I love the window so that your treat can become part of your bag design. Too much fun!
And, finally, a scapbook page. This is one of my very favorite pictures of Tacy from the last holiday season and I love how the page turned out using the Take a Bough set. The branch image was perfect and the sentiment was just right.
I can't wait to do more holiday stamping - it's coming up faster than we all think!
