christmas journal - take 3

This is the third year that I am working on a Christmas journal through the online class offered by Shimelle. I have yet to complete my journals from the last 2 years and I really didn't think that I was going to work on a journal this year. But somehow - my ideas for this year's journal just happened... so here I go again...

My journal is made from a recycled book. In it's former life it was an old Reader's Digest volume... I love hunting these books down - especially when I find a cool cover design. I did my tag similar to the journals that I made back in August for my retreat. In one of my books there happened to be a Christmas story - Merry Christmas, Mr. Baxter. So I am using those pages for my journal, and maybe some other papers as well - who knows? Some of the pages have illustrations that I want to incorporate into my entries. I want to keep it simple this year. I picked up an old typewriter at a sale for $2 and so I am using that to type out my entries, and maybe I will add in some other writing too...

Basically, this is a statement of my intention to keep this journal and why. The book page had a December heading illustration that works just perfect. The green printed paper is a page right from the front of one of the books and I sewed the buttons right to the page. using this old typewriter is a bit of a challenge. The keys are tough to hit and sometimes they stick together which causes some typos and spacing issues... but I am just going to go with it. It's imperfectly perfect.

This entry talks about weather - I really love the snow and it arrived this weekend here in MN! The snowflake on the page is from a Cosmo Cricket chipboard holiday set. I just used my white craft pad to color the snowflake white and then used a glue pen to add the glitter to the edges. Some glitter stuck right to the white ink too - a perfect shimmery look. The date stamp is something I picked up at an office supply store sometime ago...

I am sure I will share more of my journal in the days to come...
