if you haven't heard the news...
happy valentines day!

It's my turn to share a sneak peek with all of you - and it's all about polka dots!

When I first saw the new Polka Dot Basics set, I knew that it would become a quick favorite. I love using polka dots when I am stamping and having a whole set at my fingertips is fabulous. And, I have the choice of using polka dots all lined up already for me or I can use the single dots to create an all over, random pattern.

The technique that came to mind with this set was emboss resist. I got out my acrylic paint and clear embossing powder – Julie Ebersole was the first to introduce me to using the acrylic paint with emboss resist and I love the effect (edited to add - this technique was one that Julie did on a dirty dozen project over at SCS in September 2004.) This is the technique that I also used on my Papertrey Ink Just Hatched box that Nichole featured on her blog yesterday.

On to the project…

When it comes to lining things up, I don’t want it to take a lot of effort – with the clear acrylic stamps, it is a snap. I can see what I am doing  ~ clearly.

After stamping the circle outlines, I stamped the flower from the Limitless Labels set in each circle.

I used the coordinating solid polka dots and stamped over the top of my images with Versamark ink. Again, this was so easy to line up without any extra tools.

I used clear embossing powder and a heat tool to emboss my circle images.

After the embossing powder cooled, I brushed acrylic paint over the top of my images.

The embossing power acts like a resist and I can easily wipe the paint from the embossed images with paper towel that is just a little bit damp.

Here is my finished card:

The mini polka dots at the bottom of the card are also a part of the Polka Dot Basics set.
