This month's challenge for the Papertrey senior designers was to focus our efforts on stamping for a cause of some sort. I think it is a wonderful thing to use our talents to help others. It gives a sense of accomplishment and pride when you know what you have done others will appreciate - even if it's not directly to you.
Meet my best friend Brianna's daughter, Kaya...
When I was thinking about this challenge, Brianna was in Milwaukee with her daughter Kaya at the Children's Hospital out there. She has a rare, complex medical condition and there isn't a doctor here in Minnesota that can treat some specific problems that she has. Every couple of months (or sometimes less time in between), they pack everything up and take the 7-8 hour drive out there. They have stayed regularly at the Milwaukee area Ronald McDonald House. It has become their "home away from home" while they are out there. For minimal cost they have a comfortable place to stay, eat warm meals donated and served by local organizations, and meet other families who are receiving treatment at the hospital.
So back to my card design, I was thinking about the holidays coming up, and the families that will have to call the Ronald McDonald House their "home for the holidays"... and how they probably didn't have the time time that we all will have to get things like their holiday cards to send to family and friends. This is the way I will pass it on, by donating holiday cards, envelopes, and postage to the Ronald McDonald House that Brianna, Kaya and her family stay at.
