birds for christmas

A few weekends ago, I spent the weekend with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law stamping and scrapbooking. I took it as an opportunity to get some serious holiday project making done.

I love these birds by Hero Arts and had previously colored them (remember that, for those of you that were there, at our mini MN Papertrey gathering?) With some patterned holiday papers and trim I quickly put together several projects. The little cards above are for the drawing that we do on my mom's side of the family. The cards are 3" square and have the names on the inside for the drawing.

I had some birds leftover and they became tags to attach to gifts.

Finally, I put together my this years version of a holiday planner for friends and family. I got the idea from my friend Navy. She had made these at the retreat last summer and they are so perfect! All they really are is a large mailing envelope folded in half. I covered the flap with patterned paper and embellished the front with more paper and trims. The little birds with the trees (a cute idea from my friend Kookie!) I had colored last year, but never got around to making them into anything.

I added a magnet to clasp the planner closed...

And here is the inside. There's a notepad for making out lists, a pocket for coupons, notes, etc. and the actually envelope pocket is so perfect for keeping receipts! I tucked some of my tags into the pockets so you could get the idea. I passed these out at my family's Thanksgiving gatherings and they were a hit!

It feltt good to get so much done and by keeping with the same theme and colors I was able to put everything together so quickly. I have another scrapbook gathering with friends this Friday and Saturday at a local craft store and so I need to get my things together for that. I am sure I will be packing lots of supplies for gift making this time.

Some of you might have noticed the new item on my right side column. I am so excited to be a part of Stampin' Mama's online Journaling 101 class coming up at the end of January! It will be and experience for me as well - I definitely need the help when it comes to figuring out journaling for my scrapbook pages. Just by my peek at what this class has in store, I know that I am going to be successful and the result will be something that my family will treasure when they look through our scrapbooks. For more information click on the graphic link and it will take you to the class description and registration information. I am excited to see you there and make sure that if you register that you tell them that I sent you!

Thanks for stopping by!
