sneak peek for the January release!
around and about sentiments sneak peek 1

When I got the Love Songs set last month, designed by Lisa Johnson, one of the ideas that I was thinking about was how fun the whimsical images would be for making valentines for my girls to bring to school to share with friends next month. I spent just a few hours one evening putting them together. They were quick, fun, and so easy to assemble with basic supplies that I already had. Let me take you start to finish through my process. It might just inspire you to hand make valentines for you and your family to share...

I started with pieces of kraft cardstock measuring 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". I selected images from the set and stamped 4-5 pieces with each design. Besides the kraft paper, I kept my color palette simple: black, red, and white.

Lisa's images are so fun to stamp. As the images are "built", I just love how they start to pop!

I sprinkled hearts throughout the images...

and added sentiments. The "be mine" is from the Limitless Labels set and the "happy valentine's day" is from the Love Songs set.

I used a glue pen on the red hearts and images to add glitter. The glitter also stuck to my favorite Fresh Snow ink.

Speaking of Fresh Snow, isn't it wonderful? I love, love love this ink. And, I really love having this fresh new pad.

Here are all the images stamped, glittered, inked, and ready to assemble into valentines.

Instead of using ribbon or other expensive accessories on the valentines that the girls are bringing to school for their friends, I made a polka dot cardstock trim to add to the cards. I stamped the polka dots in Fresh Snow on this black cardstock (can you stand the awesome coverage on the black???)

Next I used a scallop edge punch and my paper trimmer to cut this sweet little scallop trim for the valentines. I cut red cardstock 3" x 4" for the Valentine base.

For one last accent, I punched hearts from red cardstock that I had run through my little Xyron machine and then dipped them in glitter.

Here are the finished valentines! We are all set for next month and I am inspired to create more fun valentine projects!
