spring fling
April 30, 2009
Spring is finally really, really here in Minnesota. Our snow is gone and it looks like I can get my yard raked and cleaned up in this next week! My flowers are starting to grow and I have plans to pick up some pansies for my flower boxes...
The beginning of May also means time for a challenge project for the senior design team members at Papertrey Ink. This month we all found a spring inspiration picture and created our projects around it. You will have a chance this month to play along with us so stay tuned for more information at the end of this post!
This pretty soft colored quilt is from a Japanese craft and sewing magazine. I love the soft greens that brighten the stone colored fabric. Just like the leaves, grass, and flowers starting to grow into the gray landscape that we have gotten so used to looking at in the past winter months. Daisies are a particular favorite flower of mine and they just finish off this quilt just right. Right away I could see Papertrey colors: Spring Moss, Ocean Tides, Vintage Cream, and Soft Stone looking at me from this picture...
I had so much fun creating my own "quilt" background like in my inspiration picture. I created the strips from patterned papers and from some I had stamped and "pieced" onto the Soft Stone cardstock. I stamped the leave border (from my set Beyond Basic Borders) and the daises (from the set Piece of Cake) are embossed in white. I used my sewing machine to add my "quilting".
I am ready to curl up in the quilt outside in the sunshine with my cup of tea and write letters to some special friends in my cards - if only... well, I can send out the cards!
Make sure that you stop over to Nichole's blog to see pictures and links to the other senior design team members - Lauren, Michelle, Becky, Lisa, and Kelly (our distinguished guest artist) too! You can play along and link your project on Nichole's blog for a chance to win a spring prize package. All of the details are on Nichole's blog - check it out!
Thanks for stopping by today!
