star prints

It's the time of month to share sneak peek projects for the Papertrey Ink  May release on the 15th. I am very excited to share a peek of Nichole's new set Star Prints. If you love the set Heart Prints, you will also love this star shaped version and will want to add it to your collection. This set is made to coordinate with the Stampin' Up! large star punch and Fiskars X-Large Twinkle Twinkle Star Squeeze Punch. Star images are so versatile for so many occasions and today you can get a peek of that versatility over at Nichole's blog and link to all of the design team members projects that they created.

For my project, I chose to do a baby theme with the star images. We have good friends that are expecting a baby this summer and this was a perfect opportunity to put together a little ensemble to deliver when their new baby arrives!

I pulled out the set Bitty Baby Basics and it the fonts and sentiments coordinated perfectly for this baby themed project. We won't know if the baby is a boy or a girl until he or she arrives and so I used a gender neutral color theme in Spring Moss and Plum Pudding. It's a nontraditional color theme for a baby, but don't you just love the green and purple paired together?

The card is a 4" x 4" pocket card. After I folded the card in half, I trimmed 1" from the side edge. Then, I stitched the top and bottom with a sewing machine to create the pocket from my kraft card base. To add stars I stamped up a bunch onto white cardstock: the polka dot star in Spring Moss and the damask print star in Plum Pudding. I used my Fiskars star squeeze punch to punch out the stars for my projects. Some of the stars have buttons that I stitched on and then adhered the stars to the projects with dimensionals.

Here is a view of my card with the inside card pulled out. The inside sentiment that I used from Bitty Baby Basics was just right to use with the star images.

The font Nichole used for the word star is so neat with the curly flourish - like at the top of the "t" on the word "star". There are many sentiments included in the Star Prints set made to coordinate with the star word - like "twinkle, twinkle, little star that I used on the border of the white insert card.

This gift box I created for my gift ensemble is the Captured Card Case from Lauren's My Timeless Templates. I used kraft cardstock for the cover and a polka dot print from the Bitty Baby Blessings patterned paper collection. I adhered the punched stars to the lid before I folded and assembled it.

I created this simple tag on this scallop circle punched shape by stamping the star in Spring Moss and stamping the sentiment over the top in True Black ink.

One of the things that I am including in the gift box is a set of coordinating thank you cards. I used elements from the card and box to create my design for the card.

The thank you sentiment is also one that is included in the Star Prints set.

I stamped a coordinating image onto the envelope. I love the look - I think that would be a cute card focal image itself!

I love the way I was able to pull this whole ensemble together. And really, with a change of colors and sentiments. You could easily adapt this project for other occasions. What about black and silver for a graduation gift or bright colors for a birthday?

Make sure to stop over at Nichole's blog for links to everyone's projects on the design team - the talent on this team is top notch and I know you are going to find something that's sure to inspire you! Lisa, Melissa, and Candice's blogs are all places that you will need to check out as they all are sharing peeks from their new sets!
