fun with fabric
June 30, 2009
Happy July! That means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. This month was all about using fabric. I decided to a paper piecing - or fabric piecing, if you will - technique on this project. My sewing area and stamping/scrapping area really blend into one another and so I frequently find myself using things from my sewing supplies in my paper crafting projects.
I used the elephants from the Bitty Baby Blessingsset along with 3 different fabrics and vintage mix buttons from my stash to create these cute quilty pull toys. A torn fabric strip was perfect as a ribbon to finish off the card. Papertrey Ink's hybrid inks are perfect for stamping onto fabric. They stamp clearly and are permanent. The other thing you will find you need to have is a good sharp pair of scissors to cut out your fabric pieces.
I have used fabric in my stamping projects in the past. You can see a quilt label project that I did here and a Christmas ornament project here.
You definitely don't have to limit yourself when it comes to what you create with!
See how the other senior design team members (Nichole, Lisa, Michelle, Lauren, Becky) and our guest designer, Wendy Sue Anderson, used fabric in their projects.
It's time for a trip to the quilt shop I think!
