going hybrid
September 15, 2009
I am excited to share that I am going to start a new adventure. In hybrid! I was invited to be part of the hybrid team over at Sweet Shoppe Designs and after checking everything out I was happy to accept.
I have done digital scrapbooking before and so am familiar with the things that go along with it. But, what is hybrid? It's taking the digital elements like papers, labels, and other accessories and combining them with traditional paper crafting. So, you might print a digital paper and use it on your card project, you might create your card front digitally and then print it out and attach it to a base to create a completed card.
I am intrigued my digital for so many reasons, but also love my paper, scissors, glitter, and glue. I think hybrid is going to be a great area for me to explore - and share with will of you!
So here is my first "official" hybrid project...
The papers and butterfly elements are all printed from the Autumn Breezedigital kit by Julie Billingsley. Then I set to work creating a card like I normally would.
I did the cracked glass technique on the butterfly images - I am in love with the vintage look it created!
The label on this card was added to the patterned paper in Photoshop Elements before I printed it out and then I stamped my sentiment right onto it.
One of the things I like about digital papers and kits? They aren't cluttering up my stamp area and I can print only what I want to use, I can print again and again (and never run out of the papers I love!), and so many of the kits are perfectly coordinated for combining patterns and elements.
Will this make me purchase less at the scrapbook store? Hmmmm... I will have to get back to you on that. I do love holding all those wonderful paper collections - and buttons, and ribbons, and other embellishments - right in my hands too!
I have lots to explore and learn and share, both in digital and over at the Sweet Shoppe community as well!
