introducing fillable frames
February 08, 2010
I am thrilled to introduce my first of many things coming out this month with Papertrey Ink. This set is officially named Fillable Frames #1 and will be a part of a series of 12 frame sets that will be introduced once a month. These frames have a great little feature to them: they are open in the middle which allows you to place the coordinating sentiments inside the frame how you want it and stamp the sentiment and frame at the same time. You can definitely use the frame and sentiments on their own as well and all of the sentiments will be able to be used with all of the frames coming out in the coming year. The best part? This set will retail for only $5! What a great way to build your collection of basic frames and sentiments to use on your projects.
Here's a look at the sentiment placed right within the frame on the acrylic block.
One trick that I like to use to line up the sentiment and frame is to place the frame on the block, set the sentiment face down on my desk, center my frame over the sentiment and when it is where I want it, press the block down to pick up the sentiment. Test stamp your alignment on a scrap piece of paper before stamping on your project to make sure it looks like you want it too.
I stamped my fillable frame and happy birthday sentiment in black and then added the sweet little bunch of balloons from Everyday Button Bits to build my main image for this card. The patterned papers I used are from my Pretty Pastels patterned paper collection and that scallop is one of the new dies that will also be available soon at Papertrey Ink.
I punched the balloons out from the patterned paper with a 5/8" circle punch and then covered each circle with a clear epoxy dome sticker. So cute!
For this next project I used the frame with its coordinating die cut - yes, you read that right! Each of the Fillable Frame sets that come out each month will have a coordinating die cut. Just think of the possibilities...! I stamped a background (another one of my new things this month that I will share more about soon!) in Chamomile tea dye ink on Rustic White cardstock, cut out the die cut shape and then stamped the frame in Melon Berry onto the die cut piece - the clear blocks make it very easy to line up.
Next, I added the many thanks sentiment in True Black and a bit of ribbon and a button ties with Rustic Jute button twine. I love these sweet tags on their own!
I used the tags on this card that I stamped with wildflower images from Lisa Johnson's Life set.
Now, if you haven't been to Nichole's blog yet, you need to stop over to see the series of framed pieces that the Papertrey Ink design team put together that you have a chance to win!
Here's my contribution to the set - wouldn't you love to have the grouping of pictures on one of your walls? My color combination is below to use for the contest going on at Nichole's blog today in celebration of Fillable Frames and Dawn's new Color Couture collection!
There's so much more to share this week and so come back again tomorrow for more sneak peeks! It sure has been fun, hasn't it?
