introducing mini scrapbook series: tabs
March 10, 2010
It's day 2 of the Papertrey Ink countdown to the March release on the 15th! I am excited to introduce today a stamp set called Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs. It is the first in a series that I am releasing quarterly this year. The stamp set retails for $15 and includes half circle elements and sentiments that coordinate with a "tab" die ($5) and a page die ($20) to use for mini scrapbook making. And, of course, it isn't just limited to mini scrapbook making - there are so many possibilities! The whole Papertrey Ink design team has gotten together and created a whole collection of ideas for you today. You can link to everyone's projects over at Nichole's blog!
I am going to share a basic mini book project to show you how easy it is to put together your own book quickly with the new set, die cuts, and a few other supplies! The new products that I am sharing today will be available for sale on the 15th at Papertrey Ink.
I started by die cutting felt with the page die to make a cover for my mini book, several cardstock pages to use as dividers, and some tabs to put on the dividers. Love that new color!
I die cut flowers and stitched them and buttons for the centers onto the cover. To hide my flower stitching, I did a layer of black felt on the back by attaching it to the front layer with a running stitch with white embroidery floss. You could do a simpler version of this cover by just making it completely out of cardstock, or gluing everything instead of sewing. Do whatever feels most comfortable for you!
Next, I stamped the tabs for my book. The tab die itself is in an hourglass shape so that you can fold it in half for a bit heavier duty tab. You are going to love all the little phrases and words that I included in this set. The variety of tabs that you are going to be able to create with the tab backgrounds, borders & phrases for your projects is endless.
To adhere the tab to my page divider, I put adhesive on both sides of the inside. Make sure you get adhesive all the way to the bottom of the tab.
And then fold it over the part of the page that I wanted it to go.
Here's a look at the book with the tabbed dividers. How fun is that?
For the inside of the book, I am putting groupings of pictures behind each tab. I printed my pictures at 4 x 6, trimmed them to 4 x 5 1/2 to match the height of the book, adhered the pictures back to back, punched the holes and then added them right into the book.
This part of the book are pictures from a walk me and the girls took last week to run an errand and get ice cream. This cute little journaling block is part of the new patterned paper collection that I designed for this month called Green Boutique. There are 5 different patterned papers and a page of coordinating journaling blocks - 6 sheets of each - included in the pad that retails for $8. You can see snippets of some of the papers on the strips I attached to the photos in my mini book.
Here are a few more pictures in the book - we found a great big puddle that was pretty fun to run through several times!
I stamped some flowers from the new Beautiful Blooms II set (also available for sale on the 15th at Papertrey Ink) on the dividers to repeat the flower pattern that I did on the cover.
On the 15th, there will be an option to purchase all of the Mini Scrapbook items together in a kit: the Mini Scrapbook Series: Tabs stamp set, Mini Tab die, Mini Scrapbook Page die, and Green Boutique patterned paper pad will all be included in the bundle.
The cost of all of these items separately is $48, but when purchased all together in the kit it will cost you $45! Look for the kit bundle option at Papertrey Ink on the 15th to save!
Make sure that you visit Nichole's blog to link up to all of the design team members blogs and projects! You are sure to be inspired for so many ideas of things that you can make and do with all of the Mini Scrapbook items.
