flowers and back to school meet ff#6 and library card
July 12, 2010
It's day 4 of the Papertrey Ink July countdown today! Today my projects that I have to share combine my new stamps for this release with a few other new sets that are being released as well. Both the Library Card stamp and the Fillable Frames #6 set (all of the Fillable Frames sets for that matter) are perfect basics that you can turn to again and again to pull together your paper crafting projects.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available for sale on July 15th at Papertrey Ink.
First up is the new Year of Flowers set for July which features Larkspurs. The library card on the front of the card is not it's own layer, but is masked (I am into masking this month!) I stamped the library card image onto the white cardstock, made a mask with a sticky note, stamped the larkspurs image over the top of the mask and across the card front, and distressed/tea dyed the cardstock with the Chai ink from the Tea Dye Duo. I took the ink cube and swiped it right onto the cardstock until I had the look I wanted. When I removed the mask, the library card was still white and I stamped the sentiment onto that. I colored the larkspurs with Copic markers and added details with a white pen and my stardust pen. The bit of design at the top of the card was done by stamping a background from Background Basics: Tin Types across the top of the card in white ink.
It turned out so pretty, I am anxious to sit down and create some more cards with this technique. A bundle of floral cards and/or tags would be a beautiful heartfelt gift.
The next card has a completely different, bright look to it. I combined the Fillable Frames #6 frame image and the new Library Pocket die cut with Niki's new School Time set.
The new Spiral Notebook Page die slides perfectly into the Library Pocket. I flipped the pocket onto its side for this card and used the library card lines from my Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger set to make my own notebook paper piece. I stamped the frame image in Enchanted Evening and that gave it a sort of ball point pen doodle look.
The little piece of paper pulls out to reveal the sweet little school bus that Niki included in her set. It's a perfect card to send with one of my girls for the first day back to school this fall.
Nichole & Mish will be sharing projects made with the Year of Flowers: Larkspurs set and Nichole & Niki will be sharing more about the School Time and School Time Additions sets. Alli & Dawn will have projects to share with their new sets on their blogs today too!
One more day of sneak peeks tomorrow before the big release! See you tomorrow!
