emboss resist with falling leaves

It's day 4 of the Papertrey Ink countdown to the August release! Today I have a project to share using my new Falling Leaves set...

The Falling Leaves stamp set will be available to purchase on the 15th at Papertrey Ink.

Emboss resist is one of my all time favorite techniques. You can see a tutorial I did on this technique here. It is such a simple embossing technique that has stunning results pretty much every time I play around with it.

I stamped the tree images on white cardstock with Versamark ink, embossed them with clear embossing powder, and then sponged on the ink surrounding the images. I used Simply Chartreuse at the top and the Chai tea dye ink on the bottom. When the ink was dry, I stamped the "falling leaves" with Dark Chocolate ink.

I did my twill ribbon all crinkled up like - to get this look, I put down a strip of Scor-Tape, laid the ribbon on top of it in a in sort of a zig zag fashion, and then ran it through my sewing machine to secure everything down.

The shimmer you see on everything (and on the Halloween tags I shared yesterday) is from using a shimmer spray that I found at my local craft store. I loveeee the look! This one is made by Tsukineko and I have also tried the Smooch spritz as well which is very similar. The only complaint that I have was that I ran out of the spray so fast! I need a bigger bottle! I may have to do some investigating, so if anyone has some suggestions please let me know! I want the spray to just add shimmer - no color. And I need a bottle that will go for a while, not just for a few projects! And lastly - something that sprays evenly - no splotches if I can avoid it...

There are more sneak peeks happening today in Papertrey land! Nichole & Mish are sharing projects with the new Friendship Jar Fillers set and Nichole & Debbie are sharing this months Year of Flowers set which is the Gladiolus. Beth, Alli, and Tiffany will be sharing peeks of their new sets on their blogs and Dawn is sharing more Color Couture today too!

One more day of the countdown tomorrow! See you then!
