quick & easy gifts - and more fillable frames #9
October 11, 2010
Hello again today! It's day 3 of the Papertrey Ink October release countdown. Today the whole design team is posting to share some quick & easy gift ideas for the holiday season and we are all featuring the new Tiny Treats: Christmas set to give you ideas for tags to attach to your gifts.
All of the new stamp sets and products I am sharing today will be available to purchase on October 15th at Papertrey Ink.
My little gift that I created is something you might already have the supplies for in your craft room! I used felt, die cut snowflakes, and buttons to create a sweet little stocking ornament. For an extra special treat, I tucked a few peppermint sticks in the stocking too!
The stocking is oh-so-easy and even if you don't sew, you can break out your glue bottle and put it together in a snap.
I have provided the stocking template that I made for this project, please use it for personal projects only and I would love see your stocking ornaments that you make - link up in the comments below!
Cut 2 of the stocking template, add whatever other felt die shapes to the front stocking piece and stitch or glue them down. Layer the front and back stocking pieces together and stitch or glue around the edge to sew the stocking up! I also added a loop of twill ribbon with a few stitches of button twine to hang the ornament and glued on some buttons to embellish.
The Tiny Treats: Christmas set along with the Mat Stack 1 die, one of the Limitless Layers die, and your 1 3/4" circle punch makes assembling a festive tag for your gift so easy. The images are so sweet and so much fun to color up and glitter. This reindeer is my favorite and I know he will show up on many holiday projects this year!
Taking the time to make your own gifts and tags is definitely affordable and it means something a little extra special to the gift recipient. This little project will be something I make a bunch of for teachers this year, so I will be making my gifts right along with all of you! One down... many more to go...!
I also used the Tiny Treats:Christmas set along with Fillable Frames #9 to make tags for packages. I never seem to have enough tags, and I love to do a little something more than a sticker tag (although I do use those too!)
Look how the little images from Tiny Treats: Christmas fit perfectly into the tag frame. You can be as simple or as elaborate with your coloring & details. I colored my images Copic markers, a white pen, and some glitter pens. And how cute would these be added to a scrapbook page to celebrate this years holiday celebrations?
Are you inspired and ready to get crafting for the holidays? If you haven't visited Nichole's blog to link up to the rest of the design team, make sure you do - you will not be disappointed!
Alli & Becky will also be sharing more about their new sets today and Dawn will share more about her new set and this month's Color Couture.
See you tomorrow for day 4 and more mini scrapbook inspiration! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
