Welcome to day 5 - the last day - of the Papertrey Ink January release! This is the final day of sneak peek projects before all of the new sets and products are available for sale.
Today is another group post from the whole Papertrey Ink design team making cards & tags with the new 2011 Birthday Tags and Big Birthday Wishes sets. We all picked a variety of images and themes for our projects that we are sharing today which will round out your ideas for any one you might have to make a birthday card for...
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on January 15th (tomorrow!) at Papertrey Ink.
*edited to add that the 2011 Birthday Tags set will be delayed to correct a grammatical error in the set. An announcement will be made at Papertrey Ink when it becomes available for purchase. Thanks so much for your patience!
My nephew turns 12 this summer, he's in middle school, plays football, etc. I don't want to make him a cutesy birthday card and I know he probably would appreciate that...! The best thing about the 2011 Birthday Tags set is the range of looks and styles of cards that you are going to be able to create. I went for blacks, grays, and a bit of a grunge feel for my card & tag and I think I got something just right for my nephew this year...
I used the "wish big" star image for my tag of choice and paired it with the "on your birthday" sentiment from the Big Birthday Wishes set. Bitty Box Basics patterned paper in True Black adds just enough pattern and texture for the numbers and paper strip accents without over doing it.
If you take a good look, there is quite a bit happening on this card, but keeping everything monochromatic makes it all work. I will file this card away until this summer when we get together with family to celebrate my nephew's birthday! Isn't great working ahead?
I have a couple more birthday card & tags sets to share today that use some of the other images that I designed for the 2011 Birthday Tags set...
This little whimsical cake is so much fun! I paper pieced the cake with Egg Hunt patterned paper that I glittered with my mini Xyron machine. You probably recognize the "happy birthday" sentiment from my new Simple Sentiments set. I pulled it out again for this card. On the tag, I used the frame image from Fillable Frames #12 to hold the "eat cake" sentiment. I used the same masking technique that I shared on this post earlier in the countdown to stamp each part of the sentiment separately.
And one last project for this countdown...
I went bold and bright with the colors for this card. There are actually 3 images on the card that I designed for the 2011 Birthday Tags set. The celebrate balloons image, the "happiest birthdays" sentiment stamp, and the circular border sentiment stamp that is stamped lightly in the background on the card and tag.
The circular border sentiment stamp is one that you can stamp a fitting image into the center of, but I think it works as a sort of postage look too. It makes the whimsical balloon images just a little more grown up.
Head over to Nichole's blog to link up to the whole design team to see all of the card & tags designs that everyone created! Then make sure to stop by Melissa, Dawn & Beth's blogs to see more projects with their new sets.
Thank you again SO much fro joining me during this January release countdown. Don't forget that there is an online release party tonight over in the Papertrey forums from 10PM - midnight ET. Come have some fun and chat with everyone until it's time to shop at midnight! Hope to see you there!
