button boutique, introducing fillable frames additions 1 & tag-its #1
February 09, 2011
It's day 6 of the Papertrey Ink 4th Anniversary celebration! Today is the first day of the sneak peek countdown to the release on the 15th. There are so many wonderful things to share in the next 5 days - I know your head will be spinning with inspiration and project ideas!
I have some new products coming out this month that I will introduce to you in this post and today the whole design team is sharing projects using the new Button Boutique set and Buttoned Up dies. Mish worked with Nichole to make this beautiful and fun set come to life - it's all vintage and all of the little details are wonderful!
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on February 15th from Papertrey Ink.
There's a lot to share today, so let's get started!
First off I would like to share my newest patterned paper collection: Pacific Vineyards. This collection has a vintage, calico feel and includes the colors Ripe Avocado, Royal Velvet, and Fine Linen. You might recognize one of the prints in this collection - it is a part of the tag I designed for the free anniversary download. I am thrilled with how this collection turned out and have been having fun working the papers into my projects for this month.
For my Button Boutique project, I created buttons from coaster-board and patterned paper. In the picture above you can see the paper die cuts and coaster-board die cuts. The new Buttoned Up dies are going to get a workout on a regular basis now that I can create custom buttons for my projects!
To attach the patterned paper to the coaster-board, I ran the patterned paper buttons through my Xyron sticker machine. You can actually put the adhesive on the patterned paper before you die cut it as well (just make sure to leave the paper back on until after you do the die cutting!)
Since both pieces are die cut from the same die, they line up perfectly making assembling the buttons so easy.
I used the Button Boutique stamp set to create the card - I love the instant vintage when you stamp and I love the coordinating die cuts that add perfect details. There's a bit of a peek of one of the new frames from the Fillable Frames Additions 1 set on the card as well. This set is one that will be so much fun when making cards and gifts for friends who love sewing and embroidery. I created a simple little gift that anyone who does stitching will love!
All tied up, it's the sweetest little package - do you recognize the die that I used to create this?
And then when you untie it and open it up...
It holds needles and pins on little felt pages!
If you didn't recognize the die that I used for the cover, it's the Lunchbox Note die that I used with Fine Linen felt. Then I cut 2 pieces of Simply Chartreuse felt 2 1/2" x 5" and stitched them just like pages into the Lunchbox Note cover. You will be able to see the score lines on the felt that will help guide placement for the pages. I did use an iron to press all of the folds the way I wanted them to lay when I had the little book sewn together.
The stack of buttons is stitched to the tab on the Lunchbox Note cover with Rustic Jute button twine and the silk ribbon is attached to the top edge so that the 2 tails reach and are able to tie around the button to secure it closed.
Button Boutique is such a fun set and I know that you want to see what the rest of the design team created. Head over to Nichole's blog to link up to everyone's projects.
Now onto my new sets that I have debuting this month...
Fillable Frames was a series that I did this past year. The frame images in the sets have an open center that allows you to place custom sized sentiment stamps into. You can arrange them onto your acrylic block - making lining up and mass production a breeze! Each month a new frame and sentiment set along with a coordinating die cut was released. The Fillable Frames have become a staple in my stamping collection and they find their way onto so many different projects in so many different ways.
Fillable Frames Additions 1 is a set that includes new frame images that coordinate with the Fillable Frames #1-6 sets and dies from this past year. It also includes more sentiments that will fit into and coordinate with all of the Fillable Frames sets. The set retails for $24
If you aren't familiar with the Fillable Frames concept, this picture above shows how I usually arrange a frame image stamp and a coordinating sentiment on my workspace.
When I get the sentiment where I want it into the frame (this frame corresponds with Fillable Frames #4) I place my acrylic block right on top to pick the stamps up on my block. You may want to do a test stamp to make sure that everything is lined up how you want it.
The beauty of clear stamps is being able to see right through the stamp to what you are stamping on. I die cut the Fillable Frames #4 die from kraft cardstock and then stamped the frame/sentiment onto it with Fresh Snow ink.
And here is the die cut after stamping! Now if I was mass producing this card, I can just keep on stamping the frame/sentiment and everything is all lined up and ready to go on the acrylic block.
I completed my card with some coaster-board buttons that I colored by pressing right into an ink pad (Ripe Avocado for the button on the Frame and Chai ink for the button towards the bottom of the card. After the ink dried on the buttons I stamped them with images from the new Bitty Background Blocks set in Fresh Snow ink.
I used more patterned papers from the Pacific Vineyards collection on my card as well.
The other set that I have coming out for this release is part of a brand new series called Tag-its. All of the Tag-its sets will have a round frame image that coordinates with a 1 3/4" circle punch or die and coordinating sentiments and images. The sets will retail for $5 each
This month's frame is sweet and dainty - so fun for springtime projects. Here on this trio of spring tags I stamped the frames in Fresh Snow ink on kraft cardstock. The round tag is the new Tag Sale #4 die and I layered the 1 3/4" tag circle with white Doily Details die cuts and a 2 1/2" circle die cut from Pacific Vineyard patterned paper.
Once again, I added buttons that I die cut with a Buttoned Up die from coaster-board and covered with more Pacific Vineyard paper to finish off the tags.
Make sure that you head over to Nichole's blog to see more about the Button Boutique set and link up to the whole design team. Dawn and Melissa have great new things coming out for this release so make sure you stop by their blogs too!
Thanks so much for stopping by today - I will see you back tomorrow for more!
