text boxed revisited
July 31, 2011
Happy August everyone! Summer is slipping away quicker than we want it to - although I can do without the intense heat for sure...
It's time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and today we dusted off the Text Boxed set that debuted in 2007.
At first glance, the set may seem like something simple, but it really lends itself to experimenting with techniques. My favorite technique (if you are a regular reader you know!) is emboss resist.
To start off, I stamped the text background in Fresh Snow ink on kraft cardstock. I used my heat gun to make sure that the white ink was completely dry before moving on to the next step. Stamp the image over the text with Versamark ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.
Next, use a sponge dauber or other tool to color in the flower image: I used Lemon Tart for the flower and Simply Chartreuse for the stem & leaves. Wipe away the excess ink with a tissue. The center of my flower is a Dark Chocolate button.
See what the rest of the design team created with the Text Boxed set:Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Lisa, and Mish all have something to share today!
Supplies:
all supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted
Sunflower Dream Card
stamps: Text Boxed, Background Basics: Text Style II, Fancy Flourishes
ink: True Black, Fresh Snow, Lemon Tart, Simply Chartreuse, Tea Dye Duo, Versamark (Tsukineko)
cardstock: Rustic White, kraft, Damask Designs
other: Harvest Gold & Ripe Avocado twill, Dark Chocolate button, Rustic Jute button twine, clear embossing powder, Mat Stack 4 die, corner chomper (We R Memory Keepers)
Here are some past projects that I created with the Text Boxed set...
Here I stamped the main images in white and then used the dotted images included in the set to "color" in the leaf and sunflower images.
This sweet card uses the Poppin' Pastels technique: stamp in Versamark and then use a q-tip or brush to add color with chalks/pastels. The "friend" sentiment is stamped over the pastel colored image in white ink.
And finally, a festive shaker gift bag good for a patriotic holiday or theme.
Thanks so much for stopping by today - see you in not too long for sneak peeks for the Papertrey Ink Augist release!
