summer camp & crackle

Welcome to day 5 of the Papertrey Ink May release countdown. Today is all about Summer Camp and the whole design team is sharing projects made with this set today! I know you will be itching to plan a camping getaway (or at least some outdoorsy themed projects) after you have seen all of the great projects that everyone has created!

I also have a few projects to share towards the end of my post that share the new Crackle stamp.

All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on May 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.

For my first project, I turned to this scrapbook page that I recently pinned onto my layout board on Pinterest by Davinie Fiero...

Not only does it have a sort of campy theme, but I loved the layout as well. Here is my layout that was inspired by Davinie...

The photo is from a camping trip with Hana's Girl Scout troop this past September that I was able to attend as well. We all had a great time doing so may different things at this council camping event. We are looking forward to this fall when we will be going again!

I used the barn wood background stamp (again!) to create the background paper by stamping it in Classic Kraft on kraft cardstock - inspired by the wood grain background in my inspiration piece. I used the layout as a guide for my own, although I did an 8 1/2" x 11" layout versus a 12" x 12" one. I used the Chevron dies with my new patterned paper to mimic the triangle designs in my inspiration piece.

I over stamped images onto my hand stamped wood grain background paper. The trees are stamped in Ripe Avocado ink and the other images are stamped in Classic Kraft.

Instead of die cutting the rounded label images, I stamped them right onto the background paper. The camp is cut from the Block Alphabet dies. I did all of my journaling by hand for this page and stamped the lines from the Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger in Dark Chocolate to journal on. I think this is my first "official" page for Hana's Girl Scout scrapbook!

I really loved how the over stamped images looked on the scrapbook page and so I used that look to create a birthday card for my nephew. I added in sentiments from the Summer Camp set and some images from the Masculine Motifs set as well! When I had pulled the set out to find the sentiment, I really liked how the images worked together from the Masculine Motifs and Summer Camp sets.

This card is all one layer - the round framed is stamped with Ripe Avocado ink and the sentiment is added into the frame with True Black, I stamped the leave images from Masculine Motifs in Ripe Avocado to finish off the card.

Here is another scrapbook page from our family camping trip to Madeline Island. This one is about just hanging out at our campsite. It's great to relax and spend time together and a little downtime is good when you have been spending lots of time checking out the island!

On my title block, I used the Crackle stamp in the background. It is stamped in Fine Linen ink onto white cardstock. I added the star and arrow images in Classic Kraft over the Crackle image. This will be a great basic stamp to turn to for adding texture and dimension to stamping projects. I am hoping that there will be plans to add more textures like this in the future - way fun!

For my camping scrapbooking this countdown (the past 5 days) I have gotten 3 pages done and ready to put into albums - that is pretty darn good + I have a page for Tacy's horseback riding album too! I am definitely inspired to keep working and make more progress :)

One last card to share today. This card uses a sentiment from the new Think Big Favorites #16 set. I am liking the change of pace from more flowery things to more nature and rustic when using the Summer Camp set for more general cards like this.

I stamped the trees and arrows in Classic Kraft around the sentiment with some of the trees stamped off once. I added crackle by just inking some portions of the crackle stamp and then just pressing it to the cardstock with out an acrylic block (similar to what I did on this project with Background Basics: Postmarks.)

I stitched the Rustic Jute button twine across the top of the kraft cardstock and then tuck a piece to twill at the top for a finishing touch.

Make sure to stop by Nichole's blog to link up to the whole design team and see their projects created with the Summer Camp set. Melissa and Maile have one more day of project peeks for you too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today - tomorrow I will be back to share my remaining May release projects!
