hello sunshine
June 13, 2012
Welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink June release countdown! Today is a group post day and we are all sharing projects created with the new Hello Sunshine set and coordinating products. I have a card to share as well that uses my new Framed Out #5 set.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on June 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
Normally, a sunshine theme would be something that might call for bright and cheery colors. While looking for a little inspiration on Pinterest, I came across this card.
I am not sure of the exact technique that was used to create this particular card, but I love the look and set out create my own version.
These 2 cards are the result! One is created with the stamp set and dies and the other was created with the new Sunrise impression plate.
This is the card created with the stamps and dies. I stamped the text background in Smokey Shadow on a piece of Rustic White cardstock and then brayered Fine Linen ink over the stamped text.
I die cut the sun rays from Rustic White cardstock and stamped the sun ray image onto them with Fine Linen ink. I determined where my sun would go, attached the sun rays coming out from the point, and then trimmed the excess that went beyond the text stamped cardstock piece.
This card is created with the Sunrise impression plate and I think it is my favorite of the 2 versions. To create the look, I embossed Rustic White cardstock with the Sunrise image. Then I took the text background stamp and added the text. I tried not to press the stamp really at all so that it only stamped the text onto the raised portions of the cardstock. I added some Fine Linen ink to the raised portions with a brayer as well.
I wasn't sure how successful this technique would be and I was very excited at how it turned out! There are a few places where the text stamped even on the lower portions, but I think it adds to a great distressed feel.
On both cards, the sentiments are stamped on the 2 1/2" circle from the Limitless Layers die collection and attached at the center of the rays.
I had a piece of the embossed/text stamped cardstock leftover after I finished the Hello Sunshine Cards and so I used it to put together a card with my new Framed Out #5 set. This time, I stamped the tag is Pinefeather and turned it to it was vertical versus horizontal on the other projects that I have shared. I used a sentiment from the Mixed Messages set - there are so many small sentiments that will work great with the tag oriented this way!
Make sure to stop by Nichole's blog to link up to all of the design team members blogs to see their projects that they created with the Hello Sunshine set. Melissa and Dawn will also have projects to share on their blogs with their new sets for this month.
