august papertrey ink release

leaf prints revisited

Happy August! It's that time of summer when some days it's too hot to anything and I am way ready for my girls to go back to school (and some days I know they are too!) We have a few things to look forward to: I am going on a trip with my mom, aunt, and cousins out west, it's my birthday month, school shopping, hopefully selling our house very soon, and one last camping trip on before school starts!

It's time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and this month we are revisiting the Leaf Prints set. I really love this set - it is one of my top favorites from Papertrey Ink. It was great to pull it out again and play around with some stamping techniques.

I did a variation of the dye ink tie-dye technique that Nichole shared during Stamp-a-Faire mixed with some embossing to get the results that you see here in the card and tag set.

The leaf patterned paper that I ended up creating started as white cardstock!

I used a ink blending tool (you could use a sponge as well) to apply different shades of Papertrey Ink greens (Ripe Avocado, Pinefeather, Simply Chartreuse, New Leaf) to cover a piece of white cardstock randomly. Once I hadthe cardstock covered, I dripped water onto it and it left the cool pattern on the color that you can see in the pictures.

I stamped the stems in Smokey Shadow and then embossed the solid leave parts over the top with clear embossing powder. I toyed with the idea of sponging more color and doing more of a emboss resist, but really loved the look of just leaving the embossing as is.

Make sure to stop by the other Papertrey Ink senior design team member's blogs to see the project that they have to share today using the Leaf Prints set: BetsyDawnMaile, and Melissa.
