santa stationery - and more winter snow globe & framed out #8
September 13, 2012
Welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink September release countdown! Today is a group post day and it's all about the new Santa Stationery set. I may have snuck a bit of Framed Out #8 into my projects and I also have a card to share using Winter Snow Globe at the end!
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on September 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
With the Santa Stationery set, I created a letter to Santa card and envelope set for each of my girls and then I had some fun coloring up the Santa image from the set and did one of my favorite techniques with it...
Here's my letter to Santa card and envelope set. I decided to go with a square shape - something a little more special when it comes to writing letters. This is the larger square kraft envelope which measures 5 1/2" square, so I did the card 5 1/4" square so it will fit nicely inside.
I masked the center of the square off and then added the stamped snowflake border using the new Snowflake Medley set. The lines are from the Journaling Lines set, stamped in Pure Poppy, and the rest of the elements are from the Santa Stationery set. There's an area at the bottom for the girls to mark "naughty" or "nice" and then a line for someone to check it twice. I am planning on using the Santa signature stamp on these once the girls have "sent" them off!
I am looking forward to adding these letters to Santa to our holiday scrapbook - too much fun!
Next I took the Santa image from the Santa Stationery set and colored him up with Copic markers. I stamped images from the set around him in Fine Linen ink and then distressed the edges of the piece with Fine Linen and Classic Kraft inks.
The cracked glass technique was perfect to do with this image - I love the rustic/vintage result. If you have never done the cracked glass technique before, see my Make it Monday video how-to here!
I added the sentiment and larger framed from Framed Out #8 to finish off the card - a little selective inking on the tiny holly image was just the right touch!
And finally, I was inspired by the cracked glass technique to use the ultra thick embossing enamel with the snow globe set - but leave it un-cracked this time for a clear glossy finish.
I stamped the globe and snowman and then punched it out with a 1 3/4" circle punch. The snow globe base is stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder on the bottom of the snow globe die cut from Smokey Shadow ink.
The glitter is actually embedded right into the embossing enamel. Just sprinkle some on while the embossing enamel is still warm and then heat to set. I think this is my favorite snow globe so far...!
Make sure to stop by Nichole's blog to link up to all of the design team members and see their projects that they have created with the Santa Stationery set. Tiffany, Lizzie,Dawn, and Melissa will all be sharing peeks of their new sets on their blogs too.
See you back tomorrow for more! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
