welcome to mr. bones' halloween spook out
September 01, 2012
I have 2 posts today: the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and the first day of Mr. Bones' Halloween Spook Out!
Welcome, welcome everyone to Mr. Bones' Halloween Spook Out! For the next several days we are going to have all sorts of fun. Mr. Bones and I have been crafting up a spooky selection of projects to get you inspired for Halloween!
Mr. Bones is my Halloween set that was released this past month at Papertrey Ink. Due to me being on vacation during the release, we decided that an extra special Halloween treat for all of you was in order. So sit back, grab your sketchbook, get your Pinterest clicking arm ready, and maybe eat a few treats while we get going with the first day's projects!
One more thing before we start... over at Nichole's blog, there is an InLinkz list to post your Halloween themed projects. You will be able to post until September 5th 11:30PM EST. There are ten $10 gift certificates that you will have an opportunity to win by playing along!
Today I have your official Mr. Bones Halloween Spook Out invitation, a whimsically fun eek! banner, and some spooky Halloween tags to share with you!
Some of you may have seen a sneak peek of this invitation on my instagram feed. I used the By Invitation along with Mr. Bones to stamp up this fun & simple invitation. I had to include the sentiment "come as you aren't" - so perfect for a Halloween party! Instead of writing out the details by hand, I used my typewriter to type them up on the kraft cardstock.
The Card Base-ics die is a perfect way to do up a simple invitation. The kraft insert measures 3 5/8" x 3" to slip into the opening just right. A few Mr. Bones images peeking in from each side and spiderwebs on the card base help bring in the spooky fun feel.
What's a party without decorations? This eek! banner was so much fun to put together. It will, for sure, become part of our permanent Halloween decoration collection. Who wouldn't want Mr. Bones around to celebrate each year??
I used the larger triangle from the Basic Banners die collection for the banner bases in Smokey Shadow ink. The rosettes are a 1 1/2" x 11" strip of the Orange Zest polka dot paper accordion folded, attached end to end with Scor-tape, and then pressed flat into the circle shape. The strip at the top of the banner is a black flocked polka dot paper that I picked up on one of my scrapbook store adventures.
The Uppercase Modern Alphabet dies covered in glitter were perfect for adding the eek! letters to the banner. Everything is held together with Scor-tape and glue dots. Canyon Clay twill ribbon strings everything together and mini clothespins are perfect for hanging the banner where I want it to go.
I created some fun Halloween tags using the new Happy Haunting set that also debuted this past August. I paired them with my new Framed Out #7 set - don't you LOVE how it coordinates with the smaller oval Limitless Layers dies?
I also love the new Background Basics: Herringbone set - a great new texture to add to projects. I especially am loving the Orange Zest and Smokey Shadow combination for Halloween!
Who's Webster? He's Mr. Bones' cute little spider buddy! He is helping me share some past Halloween projects that I have created for Papertrey Ink. This first past project pick is from Papertrey's very first year - 2007! The Spooky Sweets set has such great classic Halloween images and they were perfect for this assortment of treat packaging that I created. You can still get so many of these great treat packaging items to customize for your Halloween treat packaging from Papertrey even today.
I am so happy that you stopped by to celebrate Halloween with me & Mr. Bones! Make sure to stop by tomorrow for more! In the mean time, here are the supplies for the projects that I shared today - that's Punk the pumpkin helping me out :)
