february release project wrap up
introducing wonderful words: birthday

friends 'til the end revisited

Happy March! It felt like February flew by... We finally sold our house (we had taken off the market for a break and that's when we got our offer!) and so this month will be packing up to move in early April to a temporary apartment while we find a house to move into. It's going to be a busy month for sure!

The first of the month means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge...

This month we are working with Friends 'Til the End. This set is so pretty and I have always loved the friend themed sentiments that are included with it - no other set compares. I was inspired to do some embossing and water coloring together for the project that I have to share today. The technique worked beautifully with the flower in the set!

My Pinterest inspiration is a card by the talented Lisa Spangler:

I really love how she did the background on this card with the white embossing and then distressed edges. It's so soft and pretty!

I used the same idea that Lisa used for my card background. I embossed the smaller flower from the Friends 'Til the End set in white on Fine Linen cardstock. I did the same for the larger flower that is also die cut from Fine Linen cardstock and embossed in white. I used reinkers to watercolor the main flower in Raspberry Fizz and Scarlet Jewel with a little Classic Kraft on the center of the flower.

Instead of using an ink blending tool to distress the edges of the background paper, I used my water color brush with Fine Linen and Classic Kraft reinkers to keep the same look at the watercolored flower.

I used the layout from Lisa's card as well and instead of pearls I added some rhinestones scattered across the focal point of the card.

Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the Friends 'Til the End set: BetsyDawnMaile, and Melissa.

See you again soon for the March release sneak peeks and countdown!
