april release projects
April 15, 2013
It's the 15th, which means it's the April release day at Papertrey Ink. All of the new stamp sets and products that I and all of the design team members have been sharing this week will be available to purchase tonight at 10PM ET at Papertrey Ink.
Some of my top favorite picks this month? Well, Wonderful Words: Memories - of course! But really, I do have some other favorites too... I really am excited about the new shimmer cardstock colors. One of the colors I really loved in that assortment is Scarlet shimmer. It is so beautiful! I used it on my Big Ticket Basics You & Me card the other day as a small accent strip. I really also love the Star Gazer sets and dies, Classic Kraft patterned papers (!) and the Happiness in Bloom set.
Speaking of Happiness in Bloom, here is the card I put together with this set. Keeping with the watercolor trend that has been happening on my desk right now, I spritzed the stamps with water before stamping to get the effect. I LOVE the layered 2-step detail images in the set and how perfect for this technique too?
And can I just say how awesome the font combinations are for this set? So fresh, fun, and right on trend.
The rest of the card for this month's release have a very decidedly masculine theme. Perfect after my newsletter post a little bit ago. Not only do these sets have the perfect images, I kept all of the ideas in mind while creating.
Next up is Boutique Borders: Father. I pulled out the Background Basics: Super Stripes to create a plaid design on the Ocean Tides cardstock with Classic Kraft and Fresh Snow ink. I die cut the window with the Boutique Borders: Father die and then stamped the border and sentiment through the opening onto the kraft cardstock base.
The leaf image in the set accented the frame perfectly and I finished off the card with some Dark Chocolate buttons and Rustic Jute button twine.
For this card, I combined 7th Inning Stretch with Sketched Shapes. Sketched Shapes is a set I didn't get near enought time with and so I plan on spending some more time with the set soon! I used it here for an border along the bottom edge of the kraft cardstock in Fresh Snow ink.
I die cut the ball and bat from Rustic White cardstock and the sentiment is stamped in True Black ink. A few Star Gazer die cut stars in Night Sky shimmer cardstock added a bit of celebration to the baseball images.
I kept this one simple and to the point - one of the ideas from the masculine card making idea list. The tools are stamped onto the kraft cardstock with Classic Kraft ink and added to a Smokey Shadow card base that I stamped the Background Basics: Herringbone on the left side of in True Black ink.
I added the sentiment on one of the Sketched Shape banner die cuts and secured it with some pewter brads - the perfect accent to a card with this theme.
And finally, how cute is this little recliner chair in this month's Polka Dot Parade set? Father's Day, retirement, and birthday are just a few things that this little set will be perfect for!
So, there you have it! Make sure to go to Nichole's blog to link up to all of the design team members remaining projects for this release.

Thank you for a fabulous release, especially for your patience with me the first few days while I was still setting up my studio area after the move to our new home. I have some more work to do yet, and I will be sure to share my area when I am done!
