halloween treats & sweets revisited
September 01, 2013
Hi everyone! Happy September! Here at the Nichols house, we are getting ready for the first week of the school year that starts this Tuesday. We are ALL ready.
One of the fun events in August was Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-Faire and I hosted a little get together with some of the Minnesota PTI girls and some of my local friends. We stamped and crafted the day away...

It was a great time and there is nothing better than spending the day with friends doing something that you love. I hope that many of you got the chance to take the day and play along with some of the challenges. If not, the tutorials and videos will always be accessible through Nichole's blog so you can stop by, check them out, and learn something new when ever you have the time.
The first of the month means that it is also time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge! This month we revisited a set that I designed a few years back: Halloween Treats & Sweets. It's time to get your Halloween crafting underway and this will be perfect for a little treat packaging inspiration...
I took one of the small linen bags that are available right now over in the Papertrey Ink Boutique section and added a pumpkin that I made from a circle die cut of Canyon Clay felt, stamped the pumpkin face with a permanent black ink (I used Jet Black Archival ink by Ranger), and topped off with a Ripe Avocado twill ribbon stem and Simply Chartreuse button. I love the sweet home spun look and feel!
I did the stitching around the edge of the pumpkin with a sewing machine and then glued it down to the linen bag. If you use a liquid adhesive, you might find it helpful to put a scrap of paper inside the bag in case any glue seeps through the fabric.
I added a tag to my treat bag and used the smaller version of the pumpkin face with a 1 1/8" circle punched from Canyon Clay cardstock.
Rustic jute button twine was perfect for tying the tag to the treat bag and topping off the pumpkins.
