peace, be still revisited
October 01, 2013
Happy October, everyone! I am so excited to finally be in the fall season... I love the cooler weather, the colored leaves, pumpkins, apples, and of course the crafting bug that seems to get me in the mood to create for the upcoming holiday season.
The first of the month means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and this month we are revisiting one of my sets: Peace, Be Still. I love snowflakes so much and this set is one that is such a favorite of mine. And combining snowflakes with my 2 favorites for stamping: Fresh Snow ink and kraft paper? It's a match made in heaven for me...
So, of course I pulled out kraft paper for this project! I have had this idea floating around in my head for a while and the Peace, Be Still set seemed like it would be perfect to try it out with. I embossed the sentiment onto the kraft cardstock with clear embossing powder.
Next, I stamped snowflakes all around and over the embossed sentiment. I want the sentiment to be in sort of a "blizzard" of snowflakes.
Next I used a slightly damp paper towel to wipe the sentiment - the embossed area will resist the ink. Since the white ink was not completely dry it smudged the ink around where I was wiping, but that adds to the effect I was going for and helps the sentiment stand out a bit more.
Here is my finished card and tag project and I love how this look turned out - so perfect for a winter and holiday project!
I added holly accents that I made with the Holly Jolly dies, Ripe Avocado cardstock, and some red rhinestones.
The tag is made with the Notched Star Banner base die. I added a Pure Poppy strip of cardstock and silver eyelet to finish the tag off.
Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the Peace, Be Still set: Betsy, Dawn, Maile, and Melissa.
