city scene and more
October 14, 2013
Hi everyone! Welcome to day 5 of the Papertrey Ink October release countdown. Today is another group post day and we have all created projects with the new City Scene sets to share with you. I also have projects with my new sets to share as well!
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on October 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
I love the possibilities with the City Scene sets! I was able to create a classic Christmas card and then turn around and create a collage style card using many techniques that I love.
It was fun to build the little mini city scape for this card. One tip I have is to stamp the detail images first (the windows, etc.) and you will find it much easier to line up the solid building images.
I added a few pine trees and added colored "lights" with my Copic markers.
Santa and his reindeer flying through the air finished off the scene - I curved the image a bit on the acrylic block before stamping it.
I dug out the Candy Cane Prints patterned paper for this release and it really has seen lots of love in my projects this month!
Next I used the Eiffel Tower image and combined it with various images from the Postmarks set to create a collage look for his card.
I started with the Eiffel Tower, embossing it with clear embossing powder onto kraft cardstock. I added other images around it from the Postmarks set, also embossed with clear embossing powder. I actually did stamp one image in Versamark, didn't like how it looked and decided not to emboss it, but it shows through just a bit on the finished piece and I like how it looks (right under the "just a note" sentiment.)
Next, I added Enchanted Evening and Ripe Avocado inks with an ink blending tool over the whole kraft cardstock piece and the Dark Chocolate ink to the edges. Wherever the images are embossed, they resisted the inks. Then I went back and added some more images in black ink until I was happy with how it looked.
For the details, I added the "Bon Jour" sentiment onto a kraft cardstock strip and then notched the one end with a square punch. I made the little epoxy circle element as well with a stamped image from the Postmarks set.
Here are a few more projects created with my new sets Rustic Wreath and Wonderful Words: Snow...
The opening in the center of the wreath from Rustic Wreath is large enough to cut a circle opening with the 2 1/2" Circle Limitless Layers die. I stamped the Wreath on Smokey Shadow cardstock with True Black ink and the cut the opening from the middle. The card base is Rustic White cardstock and I stamped one of the sentiments from the new 'Tis the Season Sentiments set into the opening.
I added a few sprig images from the Rustic Wreath set around the sentiment, colored the leaves with Copic markers and then added a few red rhinestones on for berries - so pretty!
Finally, I had to pair up Wonderful Words: Snow with the Shape Up Series: Snowman dies and stamp set. This card was nothing but fun to assemble. The hat, arms, mittens, and nose are all done with felt.
I added plenty of snowy glitter all over the snowman for a perfect wintery look!
You can link up to the whole design team and see their projects created with the City Scene sets over at Nichole's blog. The stamp designers have been busy this month so stop by their blogs too: Erin, Dawn, Lizzie, Melissa, and Maile.
Thank you so stopping by today. I will be back tomorrow to share the rest of my projects for the October release.
