2013 halloween tags
October 17, 2013
I took a short break from all of the holiday crafting around here to put together my 2013 Halloween tags that I create each year for my girls, nephews, and some close friends. It has become a tradition that I look forward to each year! My list gets a little longer each year and if you have followed my blog for a bit, I bet you can pick out the new name that was added this year...
The tags began with die cutting and glittering letters for each of the names. I used the Headline Alphabet dies to do the names for this year's tags. I run my cardstock through my Xyron sticker machine so that I don't have to deal with messy glues and sprays for the little letters. That "e" die sure gets a work out for sure!
I decided to use the new Notched Star Banner dies for the tag base. I love the star cut outs on the top layer! For an image, I added the pumpkin from Tag-its #7. In this picture I am really just laying everything out to see how it was going to look size wise.
Next I got all of the pumpkins colored up with Copic markers and added a little sparkle to them with my Stardust pen. My tip with the Stardust pen is to take your finger and smudge the glitter a little bit before it dries. This will "scatter" the glitter and give you more of an overall glittery look versus just a glitter line.
I punched all of the pumpkins out with a 1" circle punch and then added a 1" epoxy circle over the top. This little colored pumpkin just became the perfect spooky embellishment for my tags!
I added some glittery stars and strips to the tags that I had punched out from some glitter paper. I added an eyelet to the end of each tag to give it a nice finished look. These eyelets are actually from the sewing department at my local craft store.
Here they are all put together and now they are ready to attach to fun treat bags so that we can deliver some fun Halloween treats.
I like to add the tags to our Halloween scrapbook on a page with the girls in their costumes for that year.
