introducing doodlie-do and more four square
January 14, 2014
Welcome to day 5 of the Papertrey Ink January countdown. Today is a group post day and we are all sharing projects created with the new Doodlie-Do set. I used my new Four Square set in one of my projects as well.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on January 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
Doodlie-Do is such a fun set that is perfect for playing around with different coloring techniques. I pulled out my Copic markers for one card and then my clear embossing powder and ink refills for the other.
I think that using my Copics was one of the first things that came to mind when I saw this set. I stamped the flower image and then some addition leave images across the cardstock and added the "happy for you" sentiment all in Tuxedo Black Memento ink (my go to ink when I use Copic markers.)
Ths colors I for coloring the flowers: R32, R35, R37 and for the leaves: YG93, YG95, YG95, YG97.
After I finished coloring, I went back with the colorless blender and added a few polka dot patterns. One on the dark pink ring on the large flower and then on the one circle shape of the larger leaf. The brighter white dots were added with a white gel pen.
For this card, I embossed the flower and leaf images onto kraft cardstock in clear and then used ink refills to paint the embossed images with a water brush. I painted the flowers in Raspberry Fizz and Scarlet Jewel, and then I painted the leaves in Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado.
To add a sentiment, I used my new Four Square set. I stamped the "celebrate" right onto the kraft cardstock and then added the "today" below it. I added the die cut frame that I stamped with Classic Kraft ink so the sentiment shows through the opening.
The fun part about watercolor is letting the colors flow and bleed into each other which creates some beautiful textural effects.
