monthly moments: march collection, a few pointers & journaling accessories
March 12, 2014
Welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink March release countdown! Today I am so excited to share more of this month's Monthly Moments: March collection with all of you! I also am sharing more about the new sets A Few Pointers and Journaling Accessories - perfect companion sets for the Monthly Moments collection.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on March 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
This month, the colors scheme is Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Moss, and Harvest Gold. I have been loving these fresh and bright colors as I work on my layouts.
Here is a peek at the Monthly Moments: March kit that includes the Monthly Moments: March stamp set, the Monthly Moments: March Journal Card collection, the Monthly Moments:March dies (word and arrow), the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 2 die, and the Monthly Moments: digital download. Aside from the digital download, all of the items are available to purchase separately. The digital download is exclusive to the Monthly Moments: March kit.
I can't tell you enough already how wonderful it is to get all of these layouts done for my albums. I am filtering these pages in with photo pages with our other pictures so it is kind of a scrapbook/photo album mix.
Honestly I think the hardest part of the scrapbooking process is getting my photos printed - I know I am not alone with this! I love to take the pictures, love downloading them and looking through them, but I can be so terrible at choosing the ones I want to print and getting them into a book so that my family can enjoy them.
Taking the time to send my print order out and then going in to pick them up is most of the battle. Once I have the photos in hand, creating the layouts is the easy part. And I am in love with the pocket style. I love slipping the parts into each section and then when they are filled, I am finished. I can be as simple or get as complicated as I want. I can just have the photo do the talking, or I can write a story about it. There are no rules, only how you want to do it.
Here's a look at my layouts from the first week or so of March. I am not worrying too much about what day I start or finish and I don't worry about featuring every single day in our lives. If I stress too much about it, I will not want to do it. I go back to the pictures I have taken on my camera and phone and go with what I have to tell the story.
Here's a closer look at the left side. This past week at our house was spring break and so the girls were home. It was also very cold here and so we didn't do a whole lot during the week but hang out and go to Tacy's regular therapy appointments.
I had taken pictures of our neighborhood full of snow, Hana doing dishes, cards I designed for and event at my local craft store and Tacy playing with beads in the waiting room at one of her appointments. Wonderful everyday life that we will so enjoy looking back on.
I used the "march" die cut from kraft cardstock along with a new Seasonal Stitching: Clover die cut from Spring Moss cardstock. The year is stamped with numbers from the Antique Alphabet set and everything is on one of the Monthly Moments: March journal cards.
I made my own journal card here using the new Journal Accessories set. The lines in the set are sized to fit across 6" and I have already used them a ton! They may not make it off my desk very often...!
I created this journal card as well with the new Monthly Moments: Journal Card 2 die. It fits the 3" x 4" pocket and has a scalloped edge. the "here & now" circle is from the Monthly Moments digital download for this month that is included only with the kit. The arrow with the "makes me happy" sentiment (because who isn't happy when their kids do the dishes???) is from the new A Few Pointers set.
Here is a look at the left side.
There's a picture of Hana in the snow when it was finally warmer at the end of the week to play outside, a photo of Tacy while we were at a doctor appointment down in the cities (Minneapolis area), and pictures of Tacy with her new bear from Build-a-Bear.
Here is another arrow and sentiment from the A Few Pointers set. I think I could put the arrows on every picture. I love the size and then sentiments are so perfect for using on layouts.
Sometimes a photo tells you so much! The photo is from Tacy's doctor appointment and I love how she is looking at me, how you can see Chad in the background goofing around with Tacy's bear, Hana's a blur, and in the very back you can see part of Tacy's x-ray from the appointment. It makes me think about how chaotic it can be at appointments when we are all there in this little room doing a lot of waiting for the doctors.
I made another journal card with the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 2 die this time with kraft cardstock and took a little time to make a list of a few things that I am so lucky to have in my life.
I used the sentiment and arrow image from Monthly Moments: March, the coordinating die cut, and the "hello" speech bubble to create the little embellishment for these photos of Tacy with her bear.
Now with all of this Monthly Moments scrapbooking that I have been doing and know that I will be doing in the future, I thought i would put together a few more journal cards to have ready to go when I am ready to create.
The A Few Pointers and Journal Accessories sets are so perfect for this task.
Here's a look at the four cards that I made. I used the same color scheme as the Monthly Moments: March collection and I am going to keep them right with my other printed journal cards so they are ready to go when I am.
This journal card is 6" x 4". I used white cardstock for the base and then added the lines from the Journal Accessories set in Fine Linen ink. I stamped seven solid arrows and then added the days of the week to each one.
For one of the weeks in March, I can write down just a little something that happened each day. Then this can get slipped right into my pocket page layout (I think I actually need to make a whole pile of these...)
This journal card is just smaller than 3" x 4" and would work great for in a pocket page or on a card front. I used the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 1 die cut from white cardstock for the base.
The arrows were actually stamped first on a die cut shape and then onto the journal card -a sort of second generation stamping. This came from a happy accident of liking the designs that were happening on the paper under my work area when I was stamping the excess ink off the stamps. I love accidents that that.
This journal card is 6" x 4" and I used kraft cardstock for the base. I used the speech bubble from the Figure of Speech frame die and filled it with sentiments and arrows from the A Few Pointers set to sort of title the journal card.
I like how the speech bubble is pointed at the journal lines and sort of sums up with the journaling will talk about - some where we will go and where we have a good time. And I am pretty sure something like that might happen. We like to go places. We like to have fun.
And finally a card to record some memories from March. I used the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 2 die cut from kraft cardstock. The lines from the Journal Accessories set are stamped with Fresh Snow ink, the "march" from the Monthly Moments: March is stamped in Simply Chartreuse ink and then i added the "memories" sentiment in True Black ink from the Journal Accessories set.
I am excited to have a bit of a jump start on my next layout for March and I hope the journaling cards are inspiring to you too!
