introducing simple stars
April 12, 2014
Welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink April release countdown! We are switching the order of things for this month's countdown and treating you to a group post day. We are all sharing projects created wit the new Simple Stars set and coordinating Cover Plate: Stars die.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on April 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
I am really loving the whole Cover Plate dies and coordinating stamp sets that Papertrey has been releasing. They are so easy to work with and so versatile for so many themes of card designs. For the card that I am sharing today, I took the same layout and just did a change of color combinations. The difference in the look and feel of the cards is amazing!
First up is a card with colors inspired by this photo:
The colors have a definite masculine feel to them: Enchanted Evening, Terracotta Tile, Ocean tides, Harvest Gold, and Classic Kraft.
I did my card base with the Enchanted Evening, added the Cover Plate: Stars die cut from kraft cardstock over the front, and then added the inlaid stars that I had stamped with the remaining colors (Ocean Tides, Terracotta Tile, and Harvest Gold) onto the white die cut stars.
I glittered up a star that I added next to the sentiment with a few rhinestones for a bit of extra sparkle.
For the second card, I used this photo for color inspiration:

This combination is definitely more feminine in feel: Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, and then I added in Classic Kraft again for good measure.
This time I did the Berry Sorbet for the card base, the Cover Plate: Stars die cut from kraft cardstock over the front, and the stars die cut from white stamped in Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse, and Spring Moss.
I just love the difference of the cards using the separate color combinations. And there are so many other combinations that you could experiment with for this card. All pastels for a baby card, use school colors for a graduation, etc.
I stamped up some extra stars from each color combination and put together some 3" x 4" journal cards with sentiments from my new Monthly Moments: April set...
I did one card on a kraft base that is cut with the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 1 die and one die cut from white cardstock. The journaling lines are stamped with another new set that you will here more about a little later in the countdown.
Just like the cards I shared above, the kraft card with Ocean Tides, Terracotta Tile, and Harvest Gold stars has a more definite masculine theme and the white one with Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse, and Spring Moss stars is definitely more feminine.
