summer sweetness, birthday classics: june, and monthly moments: may
May 10, 2014
Welcome to day 1 of the Papertrey Ink May release countdown! Today I am sharing the new sets: Summer Sweetness and Birthday Classics: June. I also have a project to share that uses my new Monthly Moments: May set.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on May 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
The Summer Sweetness set was designed by Lizzie and it it just the something I have been longing for to stamp with after this terribly long winter here in Minnesota. I went for all things bright with the projects that I created with the set and there's a bit of shimmer and shine as well! Birthday Classics: June is a set designed by Dawn and is the next up in this completely fun birthday series. Both of the sets pair wonderfully with each other as well!
Up first is a card the includes both sets. I did a little embossing on the popsicles to add a little shine. Stamp the sentiment first and make sure it's completely dry before stamping the popsicles that overlap it. Ink your popsicle stamp up in Versamark ink first and then your color of choice so that the dye ink becomes emboss-able. Here's a tutorial on embossing with dye inks I posted a while back.
I did a few layers of clear embossing powder for a nice, raised shiny look - quickly add more embossing powder while it's still warm and heat again. It's hard to capture the shine in the photos, but it makes the popsicles look good enough to eat!
How fun are all of these popsicles lined up? It reminds me of when I was little and the ice cream truck would come through our neighborhood. I made my own sentiment with the "summer" from Birthday Classics: June and the new Smooth Alphabet dies. You will here more about these later in the countdown.
I think the striped popsicle is my favorite one and I remember loving these as a child as well!
Here's one more card with the Summer Sweetness set and this time I added some shimmer with some glitter added to the stamped popsicles with a glue pen. And that instant photo frame die cut? That's one of the new dies that is a part of the Monthly Moments: May collection. You will hearing more about that one a little later in the countdown.
Summer Sweetness has the cutest sentiments and I love this one that I can stamp with multiple colors. Here I stamped it onto one of the 1 3/4" circle Limitless Layers dies cut from white cardstock with True Black ink and the "coolest" part of the sentiment in Orange Zest.
Next is a project created with my newest Monthly Moments: May set. Here's the peek that Nichole shared on her blog just a few days ago...
Monthly Moments is a monthly grouping of products that will coordinate with a pocket style scrapbook layout. You will be able to use these products for regular layouts as well and they will work wonderfully for card making too!
The May set features a little bit of Mother's Day, a little bit of remembering someone special, and a little bit of butterflies, happiness & flowers. Monthly Moments: May retails for $15. I will be sharing a bit more about what all is included in the Monthly Moments: May kit a little bit later in the countdown.
I am very excited about the two step border image that I included in the set. I already have ideas for more options with this idea! The border is sized to go along an edge that is 4" or less. So it will work along the side of a 4" x 6 " journal card and also along either edge of a 3" x 4" journal card. There are some sentiments that are included in the Monthly Moments: May set that will work in the circle opening on the border and I know you will find images and sentiments in your own collection that will work as well.
On the cards, I used the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 1 die and added the order on one card down the side of the journal card and across the bottom of the other. The buterfly image is also included in the Monthly Moments: April set and is two step as well where you stamp the wings in one color and then add the body in another color.
There is more to see on this first day of the May release countdown. Nichole will be sharing lots over at her blog, Maile is sharing the new Phrase Play #4 set, and Laura is sharing the new Splat set. Make sure to stop by the stamp designers blogs to see projects with their new stamp sets and products: Dawn, Lizzie, Melissa, Lexi, and Erin.
