introducing ombre builders
June 13, 2014
Hi everyone and welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink June release countdown. Today is a group post day and we are all sharing projects created with the new Ombre Builders set. I have a few projects to share using my new Cat's Meow set too.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available for purchase on June 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
I am really loving this set - I have already used it a few times on projects that I have shared during this countdown and I have used it on more projects that I am sharing later in the countdown too! I have a feeling that this will be a set that I reach for again and again.
Here's a card that uses the Ombre Builders to create the ombre effect using generational stamping. Generational stamping is when you stamp an image repeatedly without re-inking to achieve lighter color variations.
I stamped the triangle patterned image in Ocean Tides three consecutive times, moving the image up each time from the bottom of the Rustic White cardstock and then repeated stamping from the top down. And how cool does that look?
And, of course, the images work well for so many other applications as well! I used the scalloped image to create a banner on this July birthday card with the Birthday Classics: July set. I curved the acrylic stamp as I attached it to the acrylic block to give the scalloped image a sort of banner/swag look to attach to either end of the sentiment.
I went back and used the star from Birthday Classics: July to "decorate" my banner.
Between all of the design team members projects, you are going to have all sorts of ombre inspiration to choose from as well as ideas to use the images in other ways.
Here's another card using my new Cat's Meow set. This one is done using the paper piecing technique to "color" the cat and yarn images.
I used the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 3 die for the main stamped image and then made my own patterned paper for the mat by stamping the cat footprints onto the Rustic White cardstock with Fine Linen ink.
Finally, for this card I stamped a background patterned paper with the cat and footprint images with Classic Kraft ink onto Fine Linen cardstock.
The sentiment it stamped onto one of the new Seasonal Stitching dies that you will hear more about soon. I stitched the edge with a pink embroidery floss and added the Sweet Blush ribbon to the left edge of the card for a touch of color.
