simply jane revisited

Welcome to June! We are finally seeing warmer weather here in Minnesota and my girls are in their last week of school before summer vacation begins.

The first of the month also means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. This month we are revisiting the set Simply Jane.

I really love stamping with images that are perfect for a vintage touch and Simply Jane is so perfect for that. When you think of something vintage, you might think of lots of details and flourishes - and it can definitely be that, but it can also be something with a simple touch as well.

Here's a look at my cards side by side. The one on the left has lots of detail, while the one on the right is a simple one layer card.

I used the Dearest Jane patterned paper to create a ruffled trim be folding the paper and attaching it to peek out from the Aqua Mist patterned paper strip. I stamped the silhouette of the 2 girls in Vintage Cream on the Mat Stack 6 die cut from kraft cardstock and then added the frame die cut and stamped in Aqua Mist on top.

I stamped the sentiment in Dark Chocolate ink onto the longer Double Ended banner die cut from vellum and then folded the ends a bit to fit over the frame and onto the card front. A few pearls sprinkled around the frame finishes off the card.

Stamping a collage image is a favorite technique and the Simply Jane set works so beautifully to do it. I started with the text from Background Basics: Text Style in Fine Linen, added the Aqua Mist frame (stamped off once for a lighter tone), stamped the girls in Classic Kraft, added the sentiment in Dark Chocolate, and then the flower details in Fine Linen.

A bit of stitching and pearls are the perfect embellishment to finish off the card.
