introducing monthly moments: july
July 12, 2014
Welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! Today I am so excited to share this month's Monthly Moments: July collection with all of you. My projects also feature the new Monthly Moments: Travel Plans stamp set and maybe a few other fun things too.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on July 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
The color scheme for this month includes: Enchanted Evening, Terracotta Tile, Simply Chartreuse, and Classic Kraft. The colors are a little bit classic and rustic at the same time. I have to say I really love putting these color combinations together each month. It makes me work outside of my normal color combination box. This month the color I am using more than usual and falling more in love with is Terracotta Tile. It is such a beautiful red shade that I need to reach for more often!
Here is a peek at the Monthly Moments: July kit that includes the Monthly Moments: July stamp set, the Monthly Moments: July Journal Card collection, the Monthly Moments: July dies - which includes those awesome geo tag symbols, the Monthly Moments: Journal Pocket 2 die, and the Monthly Moments: July digital download. Aside from the digital download, all of the items are available to purchase separately. The digital download is exclusive to the Monthly Moments: July kit.
On to some Monthly Moments: July inspiration...
Our family kicked off our summer with a camping trip in northern Minnesota. To document this trip I put together a mini book using the Simple Stories SN@P 6x8 Binder. I have a bunch of pages to share with you and I will share a few today and then some more tomorrow!
We stayed at Lake Bemidji State Park over Memorial weekend. It's a park that we have stayed at many times and it is very close to Chad's parents house, but it is a very favorite place of ours to go. We enjoy visiting places that we have been before and we always find something new to discover too.
This first layout is about a hike that we took out to the bog walk at the state park.
Our spring here in Minnesota was late and cold and so things were still just starting to bloom. In fact, the water lines to the bathroom were still frozen up the first night we were there which made that part a little inconvenient. But the weather was warm that weekend and that helped both the blooming and the thawing of the pipes for the bathroom. Both good things.
Anyhow, we hiked out to the bog walk, which is a boardwalk that goes about 1/4" mile out into the bog. I love this trail and have hiked out on it so many times.
I typed up some journaling on this 4" x 6" journal card from the Monthly Moments: July journal card collection. I stacked up several sentiments in multiple colors below the journaling. The sentiments are from Monthly Moments: July, Monthly Moments: Travel Plans, and Get Lost (which you will hear more about soon!)
When I take pictures, I really get into detail shots, but I can't possibly include every last photo in the book. I used a circle punch to punch out a few parts of photos and then included them on the journal card. I love how that turned out - kind of like custom embellishments :)
Here's the other side of the layout that includes more pictures from the bog and the new Monthly Moments: Journal Pocket 2 die cut.
I used the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 1 die along with the frame that is included in the Monthly Moments: Travel Plans set. How fun is that striped border? The arrow in the center of the journal card is a favorite part of the Monthly Moments: July set. There are a bunch of little sentiments that you can stamp into the arrow to customize it for your project. I am stamping the geotag image (it comes in this size and then a little bit smaller size) from the Monthly Moments: July set a bunch on my project too.
Here is the pocket created with the Monthly Moments: Journal Pocket 2 die. I die cut it with Fine Linen cardstock, added a little stamping and another die cut circle photo, and die cut a piece of a map photo with the Monthly Moments: Mini Journal Card die to slip inside of the pocket.
Next I did a layout for my book about something new that we did while up in Bemidji...
In the last few years, my family has gotten into doing a little geocaching when we are on camping trips. We hadn't yet searched for caches in Bemidji, so on one of the afternoons we went into town to check what we could find. This layout shares a little bit about that adventure.
Hana is very into the whole geocache adventure and she took over doing the logs when we found a cache. I love that she loves to do this!
I used the arrow stamp to label the picture of Hana holding one of the officially labeled caches. It's layered onto one of the journal cards that has a globe image on it.
I typed up some journaling onto the "you are here" journal card that is in the Monthly Moments: July journal card collection. The arrow image is from the Monthly Moments: July set and the "let's go!" sentiment is from the Monthly Moments: Travel Plans set.
On the other half of the layout, I printed out a map of the area that shows where the local geocaches are located (from www.geocaching.com) I love the internet for things like finding maps and literature to add to my pages.
I titled the top of the map with the new Wet Paint Alphabet set - how awesome does that turn out for titles? I stamped the arrow image underneath the title and the "on an adventure" stamp from the Monthly Moments: Travel Plans set. The little geotag is die cut from Terracotta Tile cardstock and I put one at the top of the map to mark about where our campsite was.
This jumble of geotags are all of the caches that we found that day - 10! As you can tell from the map, we have a lot more to find there... It was too fun to die cut all of those (I ran the cardstock through my sticker machine before I die cut them) and then attach them all over where we were that day.
The patterned paper strip at the bottom of the page was trimmed from a 4" x 6" journal card in the Monthly Moments: July journal card collection.
If you have done any layouts or projects using my Monthly Moments collection, I sure hope that you will share with me! Add a link to your project(s) in the comments. Be sure to stop by the design team members blogs who are sharing Monthly Moments projects today: Ashley, Danielle & Melissa.
