on the farm revisited
July 01, 2014
Happy July everyone! We are in the thick of summer vacation and have been keeping busy with my girls and their activities. This month we are looking forward to several camping trips - our family's favorite activity this time of year!
The first of the month also means it's time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and today we are all sharing projects created with the On the Farm set. I love all things rustic & vintage and the On the Farm set definitely fits both of those. Creating with the sets gets me anxious for County Fairs that are coming up very soon here in Minnesota!
I used for inspiration that I found on Pinterest for my projects and was particularly inspired by items related to Farmers Markets...

I loved this invitation & label set - the color combinations really spoke to me (red! green! kraft!) as well as the gingham print and sunburst behind the strawberry image.
Here's the card that resulted from my inspiration piece. I used the checked strip to make a gingham like background by stamping it in Ripe Avocado onto Rustic White cardstock. The sunburst background is stamped with Classic Kraft onto Fine Linen cardstock.
I added the cow that I die cut from Dark Chocolate Bitty Box Basics patterned paper below the sentiment that I stamped with a combination of Pure Poppy and True Black ink. I tend to stamp sentiments in black or gray inks normally, but the inspiration piece inspired me to work out of the box and stamp the "howdy" in Pure Poppy ink. I love the results!

This chalkboard farmers market sign is so much fun. The chalkboard trend is still around a bit and it was very fun to use on this next project...
I die cut True Black cardstock with a Mat Stack 6 die and then embossed the pig, sentiments, and flourish images in white. A bit of white ink on the edges and a bit of smudging finished off the look.
The chicken wire background is stamped using the Background Basics: Farm & Barn set and then added several elements (a Scarlet Jewel button threaded with Rustic Jute button twine, some antique brass brads, and a stamped and punched out label element) to cluster near my main stamped piece.
Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the On the Farm set: Betsy, Dawn, Maile, and Melissa.
I will see you very soon for the July release countdown! Thank so much for stopping by today!
