introducing birthday classics: september & leaf prints stitching dies
August 10, 2014
Welcome to day 1 of the Papertrey Ink July release countdown! Today I am introducing the new Birthday Classics: September set and the new Leaf Prints Stitching dies. I will be sharing projects created with my new Halloween and Monthly Moments sets in the next few days fo the countdown.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on August15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
The new Leaf Prints Stitching dies coordinate with the Leaf Prints stamp set. Instead of stamping the vein detail images onto the leaf bases, you can die cut the stitching holes and embroider in the vein details on the leaves.
I stamped the leaf bases in a variety of fall colors: Canyon Clay, Simply Chartreuse, and Summer Sunrise onto Fine Linen cardstock. I die cut the details on the leaves with the stitching dies and then used some embroidery floss colors that I had that matched the ink colors well and stitched them right up.
For my sentiment on the card, I used the larger block sentiment from the Birthday Classics: September set. With a little selective inking I stamped the top part of the sentiment in Dark Chocolate and then the bottom block part in Canyon Clay.
For this next card, I pulled out my Leaf Prints dies and die cut the oak leaf from Canyon Clay felt, and then die cut that with the coordinating Leaf Prints Stitching die for the oak leaf. I stitched up the leaf details with some brown embroidery floss.
How cute is that completed felt leaf embellishment?
I stamped the sentiment using the Birthday Classics: September set in True Black and Canyon Clay and then added some of the smaller oak leaf images from the Leaf Prints set in Canyon Clay.
And finally, I had to do a little emboss resist with the larger sentiment block from Birthday Classics: September and the Leaf Prints set.
I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink, embossed it with clear embossing powder, and then stamped a pile of leafs over the embossed sentiment. Where ever the image is embossed, it resists the dye based ink. I really love how this card turned out!
