introducing fancy that and more happy spooky halloween
August 13, 2014
Welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink August release countdown. Today is a group post day and the whole design team is sharing projects created with new Fancy That set. I also have a card to share created with my new Happy Spooky Halloween set.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on August 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
Stamping with the Fancy That set takes me back to creating with the Guide Lines and Giga Guide Lines sets. I really loved creating patterns with the medallion elements in those sets and played around with doing the same with the new Fancy That set.
I love the outlined version of the medallions and they look just gorgeous stamped with Fresh Snow ink onto kraft cardstock. Once I completed my background pattern, I added a sentiment in black ink, and attached it to a Royal Velvet card base. Simple. Elegant. Beautiful.
Because the medallions are outlined, it opens up the possibilities for utilizing different stamping techniques. This time, I stamped the medallions with Versamark ink and then embossed them with clear embossing powder.
I watercolored the medallions with Canyon Clay, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, and Plum Pudding ink refills and then on a whim decided to add Fresh Snow over the top of everything so it would take on a more muted and white washed effect. I really like the results! It took on a very vintage, worn feel and the watercolored medallions remind me of stained glass windows.
While I had my watercoloring and embossing supplies out...
I did a little emboss resist with the bats and sentiment from my new happy Spooky Halloween set and the moon image from another new set that you will hear more about in the very near future.
I stamped the bats and sentiment first and then stamped the moon over the top with Versamark ink and embossed that with clear embossing powder. I watercolored Orange Zest ink refill around the moon and LOVE the Halloween glow that is the result. Have I ever mentioned that the emboss resist technique is a favorite of mine?
Stop by Nichole's blog to link up to the whole design team to see their projects created with the Fancy That set. You can also link up to there to the other stamp designers that have new sets and products debuting this month.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I will be back tomorrow with more to share!
