time after time challenge

I hope that all of you have been having a wonderful Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire day! Hasn't the inspiration been wonderful? Are you ready for this next piece of inspiration that challenges you to go back to one of your earliest projects and use it as an inspiration?

Nichole challenged all of us on the design team to find an early card design that we had made and then recreate it again using it as inspiration! I have a box of cards that I have made and while this isn't the oldest card I have ever made, it does date back to about 2002?

Oh, the angels! The chalking! The paper tearing! Remember how popular all of that used to be? I tore a lot of paper on my projects back in the day and I was awesome at it.

I think the great thing is that I can parts of this card that shine through on projects that I create today. Yes, I still loved kraft cardstock way back then too - my whole affair with kraft cardstock goes way, way back.

I know that I have always loved little details, like how I punched a little line of holes and threaded a bit of ribbon through it on this project.

Here is my recreated, updated version:

I kept the kraft cardstock, the stamped strip, the sewing detail, and the same general layout as the original card.

The angel stamp is one that is long gone and so I pulled out this cute little set that has a special place in my heart, Little Bitty Bird, to stamp the image in the strip. Instead of using chalks, I pulled out some ink refills and did some watercolor to color the stamped images. That's much more me today. I still have my chalks, but don't tend to pull them out too often.

For the stitching detail, I used a Stitching Lines die and decided to do that detail above and below the strip all the way across the kraft cardstock. I love that we have tools today that can help make something like a straight stitching line so easy to do.

So what do you think? I hope that you have been inspired to created a project based off of one of your early creations!
