daydreamer revisited

IMG_9897

Happy July, everyone! Our family is enjoying being in the middle of summer and everything that it offers. There has been lots of swimming, camping, and even just hanging out going on.

The first of the month also means that it is time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge. This month we are revisiting the Daydreamer set. It was fun to pull this set out and do some creating with it. I kept with the summer theme and pulled out some bright colors to stamp with: Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Melon Berry, Spring Moss, and Simply Chartreuse. I love the bright and tropical feel that the cards that I made have.

For this first card, I stamped up some floral borders to surround the sentiment in the middle. I started with the bottom border flower in the center, choosing a larger flower in the set, and building it out from there.

I added the leaves and some dot details and then finished it off with some rhinestones scattered across the flowers for a touch of sparkle. I repeated the border across the top, just flipping the design upside down.

What do you think of this great batik effect on this second card? It is really easy to do! I stamped the sentiment first and then embossed all of the floral images with clear embossing powder on some white cardstock. After the images were embossed, I crumpled up the cardstock which causes the embossed areas to crack from the creases in the cardstock.

I flattened the cardstock out and then added the color with a combination of smooshing and sponging with an ink blending tool. Th color goes where the areas are not embossed, including the creased areas. The flowers in the Daydreamer set are perfect for this look.
