stylish sentiments: holiday revisited
October 01, 2015
Happy first day of October everyone! In Minnesota, the fall temperatures are officially here and the leaves are starting to turn. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons and it makes me very happy to see it arrive.
The first of the month also means that it's time for the Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge and this month we are revisiting the Stylish Sentiments: Holiday set. I just love a great sentiment set like this! The possibilities are endless with the images and techniques that you can pair with the sentiments.
If you are making your own holiday cards, I am sure that you are working on a plan... or maybe you are working on your cards already. I know you are going to see lots on inspiration today between all of the senior design team members today. And don't think you have to limit yourself to one card design. Have fun and play around with making a few different ones to send out.
For this card, I stamped the sentiment in a waterproof black ink on white cardstock. I knew I wanted to play around with some watercolor type techniques and I didn't want the ink to smear on me. After the sentiment was stamped, I stamped and used clear embossing powder to emboss the trees from the O'Tannenbaum set across the card front.
I smooshed the ink colors Enchanted Evening and Ocean Tides over the embossed trees and then added the stamped sparkles over the treetops with Ocean Tides ink. For a finishing touch with a bit of shimmer, I stamped the stars scattered across the card front with Silver Encore ink.
I love how the sentiment stands out over the wintery background design. This was such a great technique to play around with using the tree images.
This card pairs the Stylish Sentiment: Holiday set with the Two Feet Deep set. The Two Feet Deep set is one of my holiday favorites - especially the snowshoe images! I stamped the "season's greetings" sentiment in Pure Poppy ink on the Soft Stone cardstock and then paired it with a sentiment from the Two Feet Deep set.
The snowshoes are stamped next to the sentiment in Dark Chocolate, Classic Kraft, and Smokey Shadow inks. Finally I stamped the snowflake images in Fresh Snow ink scattered across the background. Soft Stone stamped with the Fresh Snow ink gives the perfect wintery look and feel.
I did a simple stitching embellishment across the card front bottom with some embroidery thread and a Stitching Lines die. It was just perfect for the rustic look of this card!
Make sure to visit the rest of the Papertrey Ink senior design team to see the projects that they created with the Stylish Sentiments: Holiday set: Betsy, Dawn, Danielle, and Melissa.
The Papertrey Ink October release will be here before you know it - thank you so much for stopping by today!
