introducing gem inspirations and more xoxo

Welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink December release countdown. Today is a group post day and we are all sharing some gem inspiration with the new You're a Gem and Charmed stamp sets. I also have a project to share that is created with my new XOXO set.

All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on December 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.

Each of us on the design team were asked to pick a birthstone to work with for our projects and I chose peridot for August - which happens to be my birthday month! Peridot is a sort of yellow-green color and I remember not liking it as a child. As the years have gone by, it is a color that I really love and I wear a pair of peridot earrings all the time.

For this first card, I watercolored with Simply Chartreuse ink refill on some watercolor paper. I let that dry completely and then embossed the gemstones in gold scattered across the width of the paper. I went back and added some more color to each gem and sprinkled in some rhinestones that I colored with a Copic marker to match - I used YG95.

There are so many great sentiments in the You're a Gem set, but I choose to use "you are a treasure to me". I think that will work for so many occasions and who wouldn't love to receive a card and be told that they are a treasure :)

This next card is made specifically to give to someone with an August birthday. I used the new Cover Plate: Gem Stone dies to make the peridot gems on the card and the sentiment is from the new Charmed set.

I colored some Silver Adhesive paper with a Copic marker (YG95) and then die cut out the gems. I also made my own sort of glitter paper with some really flakey glitter that I had on hand layered onto some Simply Chartreuse cardstock. I die cut that as well and then assembled the gems together on the card front. I mixed in a little gold adhesive paper as well. The result is a truly sparkle and shine effect.

And finally, here is a card that I created with my new XOXO set...

I embossed the hearts with clear embossing powder on white cardstock and then sponged on Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy inks with an ink blending tool. I stamped tiny hearts through out the background with Pure Poppy ink.

The "valentine" word is die cut from the Silver Adhesive paper and I stamped the companion sentiment in black ink (I actually stamped that first before I embossed the hearts so that it would show up through the embossing.)

You can see more new products from the Papertey Ink December release and projects created with them over at Nichole's blog. You will be able to link up to other design team members sharing projects today and also to the stamp designers who have new products to share this month.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I will be back soon with more to share!
