2016 easter tags

I am so excited, because I got personalized Easter tags made this year! I love this little tradition that I have done in the past. I have missed some years here and there, but I try to make up some tags for the different holidays for my daughters and nephews. I took the basic tag idea and did a bit of a twist by using the Cover Plate: Basket die to create the tags for this year. What do you think? Having the basket shape for a tag is just so much fun!

I die cut up a bunch of the Cover Plate: Baskets from kraft cardstock and then just trimmed off the frame that is around the basket shape. I used two baskets for each tag and I will tell you why in just a bit.

Each basket has some Easter grass in it that I created with the Easter Grass die. And then I added a bunny or chick and some eggs from the Bunny Basket set to fill the basket up.

For the names, I used the Script Alphabet dies. I ran the cardstock through my sticker machine before I die cut the letters out so I could add glitter to them. If you run each side of the cardstock through a sticker machine before you die cut them out, you can add the glitter to the front side of the piece and then it's ready to attach right to your project without worrying about more adhesive. I put the names onto a Double Ended Banners die cut from Rustic White cardstock. With a little trimming on the tails of the letters, you can get the them lined up and almost looking like one piece.

Here's why I cut two baskets for each tag: I backed each tag with the second basket shape to hide the Easter grass edges that are at the top. It also made the tag nice and sturdy and I am not worried about the handle tearing too easily. It just gave everything a nice finish.

My tip for assembling everything together? 1/8" Scor-Tape. It is the perfect size to add to the edges and secure the baskets back to back and I know my basket will hold together well. It's perfect for the Easter grass assembly and attachment to the basket too. For the name banners and little Easter shapes I used glue dots to attach them to the basket. It's just the right amount to secure the pieces on and not get adhesive all over the place.

At the top of the basket I tied a bit of Cream Cotton bakers twine. I will use that when I am ready to tie the tags to a basket or gift. There are a few pearls sprinkled through the top of the basket too. A sweet little detail.

These tags are ready to go and I can't wait to give them to my girls and nephews. For my girls, I will tuck the tags into our Easter scrapbooks when the holiday is done along with a photo of them from our Easter celebration.
