introducing best birthday dies and ombre birthday sentiments
March 11, 2016
Welcome to day 2 of the Papertrey Ink March release countdown! I have some cards today to share with you that use a few products that are making their debut this month: Best Birthday dies and the Ombre Birthday Sentiments stamp set.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on March 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
This fun and colorful card was so much fun to create! I stamped the sentiment from Ombre Birthday Sentiments first in True Black on white cardstock. I love the style of the sentiments from this set and how they start with a lighter weight font at the top and then change gradually to a heavier weight at the bottom. The font in the set is great to use with so many things too because of its classic and clean style.
After the sentiment was stamped in True Black, I added the swirls from the Script Swirls set embossed with clear embossing powder and used an ink blending tool to add color to each swirl. The green is the new Parakeet Green that is being debuted this month - don't you just love bright shade? It's going to be awesome to incorporate with so many color combinations!
The balloons are a part of the new Best Birthday die set. I die cut them from Hawaiian Shores cardstock and actually flipped and attached them to the card upside down so that they would sit just right next to the sentiment. A tip if you know you want to do this with a die cut: make sure you die cut with some scrap paper underneath to avoid the texture impression from the cutting mat and use a bone folder to smooth out your edges just a bit.
For this card, I embossed the sentiment from Ombre Birthday Sentiments in clear and added Hawaiian Shores ink with an ink blending tool over and around it. I added the balloon die cut in white cardstock from the Best Birthday die set.
Some punched circles (3/4", 1", and 1 1/8") were perfect to fill in the balloon shapes and I glittered them up to add some color and sparkle. This simple card design is so adaptable to customize to any colors that you wanted to.
Finally, I have a card to share that doesn't include stamping. I created the background first on some watercolor paper. I used the balloon die cut like a stencil and added color around it with my Clean Color markers. The balloons have a soft washed look to them - perfect for this background.
The die cut sentiment is part of the Best Birthday die set and I cut that from kraft cardstock to add to the card front. There's another look at the Green Parakeet, this time for the cardstock on the side of the card front.
You can see more new products being debuted today for the March release over at Nichole's blog. From there you can link up to other members of the design team who have new things to share with you today too!
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I will be back very soon with more to share!
