introducing super succulents & new shaped sayings dies
April 11, 2016
It's day 2 of the Papertrey Ink April release countdown! I am introducing a few new products to you today: the new Super Succulents collection and two new dies in the Shaped Sayings die series for Mother's Day and Father's Day.
All of the new stamp sets and products that I am sharing today will be available to purchase on April 15th, 10PM ET, at Papertrey Ink.
Succulents are a huge trend right now and if you are into that trend, you are going to fall in love with this set. I started out by making this card using probably my favorite part of the Super Succulents collection: that plant hanger die! I die cut 3 of them from kraft cardstock and then lined them up for this card front. A tip for using this die it to run the cardstock that you are going to use through a sticker machine (I use a Xyron) and leave the paper backing on and then do the die cutting. That makes attaching this plant hanger to your projects so easy. I stamped and die cut three Ocean Tides pots and tucked them right into the hanger.
Next came the succulents. I stamped them onto various green shades of cardstock with various shades of green inks (see my supply list for the colors I used) and die cut them out. It was so much fun tucking in the little succulents and arranging them in the pots. How cute are they on this card?
The sentiment is stamped and then I added a the coordinating die cut word right over the top of the top word in the sentiment. It really makes the sentiment pop on the card.
This next card is very quick and easy. I used the coordinating Super Succulents patterned paper for the print that you see peeking out from the kraft cardstock that I die cut with a Sentiment Splits: Curve Vertical die. There are so many great prints included in the Super Succulents patterned paper collection that will work really well with this card layout.
For the sentiment, I embossed into the kraft cardstock with white embossing powder. Then, I added an Ocean Tides die cut of the coordinating "love" word that is part of the Super Succulents die collection and offset it just a bit from the embossed word underneath for a shadow effect.
Here is a peek at the new Shaped Sayings: Mother's Day and Shaped Sayings: Father's Day dies. I used the same card layout for both cards, just swapping out the sentiment die and patterned paper colors. This layout would work really well for any other Sentiment Sayings dies - just swap out colors, patterned paper, and use different images other than the succulents for different looks.
Succulents are a plant that is a perfect little gift for just about anyone and work beautifully on both cards here. I put the succulents into some pots to nestle right next to the sentiment and finished everything off with a few rainstones.
You can see more new products being debuted today for the April release over at Nichole's blog. From there you can link up to other members of the design team who have new things to share with you today too!
